We have almost the same configuration except the network card and the Adaptec.

Did you have updated your 4N1 ?

http://ftp://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/4in1/VIA_4in1_443v.zip

and get ride of the liveware it's pure junk
You can desactivate the SB16 emulation it just for backward dos compatibility.

Last point can you try with another ISP ? from my experience with squadies it can have an impact (how much I don't know ...)

I use myself the Omega driver for the GForce (but for windows XP) try the Win98 version http://users2.ev1.net/~dallasstar/omega_drivers/nvidia_w9x_omega_1182.exe
(it can't pork your config more than it's actually)

Straffo, I already installed the latest VIA 4n1 driver.
I tried Omega and Datonator 40.72 drivers both too.

Now I totally doubt Liveware 3.0 like skuzzy said in MA yesterday.

I wish you best of luck so :)

As you are about to redo your PC what about switching to XP ?
I didn't killed my FPS and overall stabilty was increased (using XP since 1 year without any trouble)

Last point wich in slot is your SB live  ?

I hope it's not the one near the AGP slot as it's shared and can sometime product instability.

If you have some time before reformating I would like you to try AH after removing your NIC card and the Adaptec (move your SB live in anothe slot too if you can)

I re-installed system, I hope CTD no longer happens.
Skuzzy, first of all, I have installed SBlive drivers from CD, and updated driver from Creative website. Is this OK?

Straffo, I will install XP at some point. btw I insert SBLive! card to PCI-5.

I changed a PCI slot of SB live to #4 from #5, and changed audio settings to 3/4 notch.

A lot of CTDs happen again. especially in flight.

Only CTD's I get are "Host Lost".   If you get "Host Lost" CTD it is not the software.

Now that we got that out of the way...

Often only way to be sure it is NOT a hardware problem is a clean install of OS on a wiped (read fdisk here) harddrive.   You could very well have a virus or some sort of odd software configuration - who know?

I could work this out for ya, but it cost ya the standard $85 an hour :)

Seriously, I will help as I can but only so much can be done by remote control.

Used to get them... Not a lot... but maybe once every three or four hours.

Changed to Win XP Pro a week ago and it hasn't happened since. I know zilch about computers so I can't even guess as to the reasons.
