Joystick Troubles
« on: September 17, 2002, 06:44:11 PM »
I have a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro joystick.  I'm running Windows 2000 Pro with 1.2Ghz CPU and 256M RAM and a GeFOrce2 64 MB card. I keep losing the joystick controls during flight. It starts out working fine but I lose it later. I think it may be during radio transmissions it seems to blank out. Can anyone advise?:(

I had the same problem with my SWPro3D joystick.
I don't use it now because its broken.

What I ended up doing was setting up the joystick in the Gaming Options ( Start / Settings / Control Panel ) as CH Flight Stick or CH Flight Stick Pro ( sorry can't remember which one )
Make sure you check the Rudder/Pedal box.

The only negitive thing with this was that the lower 4 Buttons on the base wouldn't work.

Now some people had success with the lastest driver and with the patch.

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/sidewinder/downloads/default.asp#3Dpatch

It worked for my friend but not for me.

Hope you have better luck with the driver and patch than I did, but my joystick work fine as a CH Flight ...............

You can check CH product tech service, there they state that if your running with an AMD cpu there is a problem in usoft os with clk setting that cause this and they send you to a usoft site that will have the patch to correct this, but I'm pretty certain it pertains to AMD cpus only
