Hey, Eagler.  Were you here when there was a rickshaw company than ran from Old Hyde Park Village to Ybor City?  The local news did spots on it, citing it as a healthy activity, good for the environment, a pleasant way to see Tampa sites, and so forth.  They used the version that was pulled by a runner on foot rather than as a bike.

Well, those rickshaws ended up in an antique shop's parking lot on Bay to Bay Blvd, rotting away.  Apparently the businessmen had forgotten about the unpleasant heat and humidity and the fumes from passing motorists.  Not a pleasant trip for the passengers and fairly dangerous for all involved.  I can only imagine the risk at taking those things down Bayshore and through downtown Tampa.

And now there's going to be a streetcar running from Channelside to Ybor.   At least this time around, the alternative mode of transport is a bit more viable.

nope missed that one

maybe a CA/San Fran thing with no humidity and sweat shirt in July weather - I could see it die out real quick here. If those trolleys aren't a/c'd, they'll end up in an antique store too :)
