Il-2 graphics are stunning, specially in cockpits.

Yea but IL2 muzzle flashes are far too big for LW planes. I'm guessing they made them all like on the Soviet cannon and ammo which were very loose in tolerances and produced huge balls of fire according to every real life IL2 and even some Soviet postwar film clips I have seen.  Luftwaffe, RAF, US aircraft weapons had much smaller muzzle flashes as seen on wartime footage.

shows one of the best features of the game - non radar guided ack fire

but a couple of questions:

does anyone else have trouble knowing when they are hit as sometimes there isn't any noise to go along with the damage

does anyone know how to open up the text buffer to read old messages

is there a ctrl d or something to show damage list

why do the majority of the dogfight sessions allow the cockpits to be turned off

Eagler.. even if that AA fire is a tank's main gun? +)

You would be pushing your luck Modas...

The stuka divebomb system.... remotely close to historic maybe...

Oleg has admitted muzzle flash for MG's is abit exaggerated, not sure if he's fixin that in FB or not.

Eagler use mouse drag the bottom right corner of text box, use pageup to see old text (i think)

No to damage list
the not hearing hits.. is a bug.. i experience that one too..

pretty game

Eagler, by chat I assume you mean the text thing you can access with the this `...

if that's the case, if you type simply "<" without the quotes into where you type, it will bring up everything from what has been loaded initialized, and will also allow you to scroll up the messages.

The trick is, it's opposite, you just click in the bottom window, hold and move the mouse either up or down. Up will make it go down and down will make it go up.

Confused yet?
:)

Also, do you fly on Hyperlobby? If not, you should... hyperfighter.jinak.cz  And the dogfight rooms, look for the ones that have "FR" listed in their title. It means Full Real... PL is Padlock, I only fly on those dogfight servers. Usually some better pilots there too.

As for damage, Oleg was supposed to have fixed that with the online game in v1.1.... like other things he was supposed to have fixed... they didn't quite get it.

If any of you guys have GF4s or Radeon 9700s, turn on the Stencil Buffer... and run it in OpenGL... almost every form of smoke has a shadow, the stratosphere clouds (I dunno they're called, but not the puffy ones), and trees will reflect in the water.

Hehe,...I thought someone had mounted flame throwers on that plane.  That's muzzle flash?  Woah.

Unfortunately, yes Skuzzy.. and those cowl guns... they are only 7.92mm...

Has the muzzle flash bigger than that of Browning .50s....

Which explains why they are damn near useless in the 109 and 190 in Il2... can't see through the muzzle flash to aim reasonably at the planes.

Please elaborate

IMO, it is the best and so far never modeled in any sim. Watch the target while approaching through glass window on bottom of your cockpit. At 1500 m cut throttle and engage airbrake. The plane enters a dive. Check angle on side of your canopy. At 600 m the warning sound tells you to pull up. Drop the bomb and autromatic leveling system will pull you out of your dive.

All of it is historical, I even heard that auto leveling system was limited to 6gs, didn't check that in the game.
