Nope way wrong. Part of reason that it happened in first place was because people who DID know he was full of it kept quiet thinking it was just a troll and non of their business. After years on line I have come to believe stronly the only way to control vermin is to keep a bright light on them.

I received an e-mail asking for donations to restore a B17 that had just been located (happened right after sending the NDA). I'm pretty sure it was widely discussed on the TAS BBS and alt.game.flightsim NG. That was many years ago, and I am not sure how many guys really contributed or where the money went.

Michael Hobuss wound up in court over the machine he gave to Voss for development. He also footed the bill for the BBS. Not sure if they had a server for that as well.

Yes, there were people ripped off.

I believe that a large portion of the "regulars" that post here do not have a satisfying life outside of this game/bbs. Otherwise this whole mess wouldnt matter to them (at elast not enough to waste energy on it.

You know if you think about it its sad that a guy would lie and exploit his "friends" but from what I have read sounds like most of yas are disgruntled suckers. Half of the things that voss allegedly claimed is so outragous it seems to me you would have to be a real rock to fall for it.

Even though I wasnt there the "Voss swindle" is well known. But at this point the more that gets drug out the more it looks like there were alot of easy marks flying aw.

No one that I know is against giving him, or anyone else, a second chance but.... Voss is still on his first chance. So long as he is the brave fighter pilot 2/5 ace, game developer, etc add nauseum.... Well....

it is a public service to out him.

Many on these board have admitted some screw ups and apolodgized. I think the overwhelming reaction from all the so called "witch burners" on this board was positive.

One thing is for sure.. the TAS situation taught quite a few people to take a developer's promises with a grain of salt. Its funny to watch the way people sing the praises of a yet to be released sim based solely on what they've read about it. I bet about 80% of the people posting in this thread have learned not to do that ever again. The other 20% most likely will never learn.

What voss did back then was wrong... but someone hit it on the head with the use of "disgruntled". People were just looking for excuses to slam the "lack of development" in the existing games. He had a ripe group of minions to spread his evil.

So.. maybe it would be fair if voss was criticized for being such an bellybutton back during the TAS situation whenever he tries to get morally superior or sell something... as long as everyone that ranted about how great TAS was is thumped every time they decide to sing the praises of a yet-to-be-released game.

I am not angry about the mess- I didn't lose anything of value. I didn't even read the "Ego" thread until last night, and only then because I was bored after a long day at work. Dunno, maybe I don't have a satisfying life outside the BBS...

...however that doesn't mean I didn't see the lies popping up again. Sadly, (and from my perspective) the stories I saw recounted were 100% accurate, the denials 100% false. I find it more incredible now than anything that the person can continue to tell such whopping lies with absolutely no indication of remorse.

I don't want an apology- I kick myself for trusting and defending him (to a point), but then realize I would do the same again for anyone stepping out there publicly. OTOH, if someone that has proven himself to be a liar and cheat once again shows signs of repeating past mistakes, yes, I will help fill in blanks.

Voss might be an ok guy in person, he might not be, but in either event he can be avoided for the most part if you desire. OTOH, if he has the lack of common sense to get involved in threads where he takes a stance backed up with imaginary credentials, he's just asking for it. I can remember a not-to-long-ago argument he had with a resident player over artwork. I even made a cautious warning at that point to "let it go", 'cause I knew this toejamstorm was out there waiting for him at a moment's notice.
