Because this is the real F4U-4.

The same speeds. Even a few MPH slower on the deck. But allot better in the sustaned climb.

Quite a big difference from AH's climb rate. Is this chart 100 octane fuel? No other special things with it?

No special boost in this one. You can tell because the MAP is 60" at combat power. Higher octane fuel raises the MAP.

BTW, the P-47M used the same engine(Except with a Turbo-supercharger). Point being the pilot could easily overboost this engine without damage for long periods of time. The P-47M ran at 72" of MAP at combat power.

Is Pyro still there? Someone check and see if he is hiding under his desk?

FWIW higher octane fuel doesn't raise the MAP directly. It just allows a higher MAP to be used without bad things happening. That is the only benefit of higher octane fuel.

IMO there's no sense in perking a bird based on factual data if the plane in question is not modeled accurately.

At least this would somewhat justify the 50 point perk cost. Currently it barely outclimbs a Hellcat to 10K.

The F4U-1 was supposed to do that quite easily. Just not here.

With all the talk of the Ta152 being porked, I figured it was only a matter of time before someone mentioned the F4U4.

I agree that it performance in the game is somewhat lacking. Either de-pork or de-perk.

If it is porked, and was unporked, it wouldn't change anything.

It's performance isnt what cripples it, it's the big F4U4 gangbangme sign.

Only the aircraft which have the option to run from any fight should be given those tags. The 152, spit14, and f4u4 don't qualify.

I won't disagree. The other day, I chased down and killed an F4U-4 wih my mighty SBD. He was too low and too slow do anything about it. This does make your point though. Even crazy guys in dive bombers attack planes with perk tags!

Drop the tags where they aren't needed.

I can't agree more about the tag dropping. The F4U4 was probably only discernible from other F4Us at close range. As was the Tempest from the Typhoon. The Ta152 had a much longer wingspan than 190D9s, so it was probably easily picked out. Point being, most of our perk planes are variants of other planes, so not easily discernible from their counterparts. The perk beacon essentially nullifies the price paid for the planes.

I would, however, like to see the plane and variant when someone shoots me down. So the KM read so, "Fancy shot you down in a Fw190A-5". Get used to that fellows, you'll probably be seeing that a lot.

Here is what I want to know. How come the Corsair is WAY more prone to ground loops/spin-outs than say the Spit or 109? I mean it has a much wider track. I have never ground looped either a Spit or 109, but the Corsair is a different story. Historically weren't more 109 pilots lost in ground handling accidents than were actually shot down? Obviously this trait doesn't carry over to AH.
