Rook Resets
« on: September 20, 2002, 03:25:43 PM »
Hi All,

I'm considering an open letter to Hitech at this point, but I'm looking for assistance in compiling statistics first before I fire it off.

For months it seems that whenever I log on the Rooks are in the process of being reset. I'd probably feel uncomfortable with this trend as a Bishop or Knight (there's only so much "stomp on the little guy" most people can stomach) but as a Rook, its getting downright depressing. Now I suppose I could do what many others have already done and change sides, but I don't want to and that wouldn't eliminate the problem anyway. In recent weeks this has become thoroughly ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm looking for actual statistics as to the number of resets in the last couple of months and which nations won and which ones were reset. I'd also appreciate actual averages as to the number of players per side, but have no idea how to get such figures. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Knights were in that situation a month ago.  It seems cyclical.  Been a long time since I've seen the Bishops reset, though.

Last weekend, twice.

It HAS been a while since the Bish's have been in the same predicament that the Rooks are in as far as average numbers go.

The weekends belong to the Knights when their numbers inflate by 1/3 or more.

I know exactly how you feel, lately I've only been able to log on during the weekend, fighting both enemys from very limited and porked fields is no fun for most and I find myself logging off most times when the situation looks hopeless.

Wait until the next tour starts, I'll bet some of the rotating squads will be making Rookville their home for a while then.

BTW, HTC knows of the imbalance problems and are working on a solution.

I know the Bish were reset 3 times since this past weekend.  I've only seen the Rooks reset once in that time...that was Thursday night.

fix= you get X perks if you join the side with fewer X number players/fields, you math guys can figure the numbers

example, you get 5 perks if join side with 20% players and 20% of bases, only one switch per 24 hours.

Actually I belive the bish have been reset by the knights 7 out of the last 8 resets. The last reset on the island map was indeed dealt to the rooks. But last weekend the bish where reset 3 times in a 24 hour period by the knights. I do understand your pain tho as all countrys feel this gang bang constant resetting. Was just a month or so knights was getting ganged. So just bide your time and keep fighting for our turn in the barrel will come and you may pork us at will. Beside I must say you rooks are getting damn good I have been getting waxed by some of you quite often as late =S= to you all.

Ok!  That dead horse is too broken up to beat anymore.  Wait a second!

"Come here little horsie!"  "Come Here, I have an apple for you!"

BANG!!

OK we have a new dead horse to beat concerning this subject!

Beat away!  This dead horse should be good for at least 9 more, "My county gets reset more often than your country!" threads!!

You can thank me later!!

If you watch closely you can see that 99% of the people saying all countries take thier turn in the bucket are either knights or bishops.  Sure, 2-3 days out of the month the nitwits are in the bucket.  2-3 days out of the month the bishits are in the bucket.  Let's see.. that 4-6 days... leaving 24-25 days of the month for someone else to be in the bucket.  Hmmm... wonder who gets stuck there the rest of the time.....

Fact of if it, Rooks are the best, though it doesn't seem it.  The constant gangbang runs out the weaker dweebs and hones the ones that stay.

Unfortunately there is really no solution to this problem, as the hatred of all things Rook has been ingrained in the nitwits and bishits since beta, when the Rooks held both nits and bish down to 2 fields each for better than a day :D  Something, I might point out, that neither bish nor nits have been able to ever do.

The numbers thing is the exact reason for my latest absence.  I logged back on last night, on the isles map, and found 170+ nits, 150+ bish, and only 73!! Rooks, and of course the bish and nits were collectively ignoring each other (not including the furball island in the center, of course).  It was a helluva welcome back, I tell ya.

It never even occurred to me that someone would contest the idea that Rooks have had the lowest numbers and are being reset the most frequently of late.

For me, this really isn't a "Rook" thing, its a balance thing. Were the Bishops or the Knights always being reset, I'd probably be asking for help compiling statistics as well.

Just a quick yes or no question then - is there any way to get actual hard numbers on resets or player numbers?

Oh BTW - this is not about which side is best. The Rooks are undoubtedly good pilots, but the numbers issue (and the addiction to furballing, lack of any strategic vision, etc.) means that they still get reset.

Read the following Stats however and you will quickly see that the Rooks generally have fewer players up than the Bishops and the Knights:

TOUR 32 STATS:
The Rooks have 37398 kills and have been killed 33892 times against the Bishops.
The Rooks have 34163 kills and have been killed 34157 times against the Knights.

Ok, got those figures (numbers in the 30,000s) right? Now check these out:
The Knights have 50334 kills and have been killed 48253 times against the Bishops.

Now I'm not a math major, but I did do enough statistics to realize that means that yes Virginia, both the Knights and Bishops have had MANY more players up throughout the tour.

The real problem is radar
« Reply #14 on: September 21, 2002, 09:27:19 AM »
Yes, the perk system is part of the issue as well.  But I think that being able to disable radar for an entire country is a big part of this problem.  It's just dumb.  A bunch of guys in bombers can fly for an hour and a half and drop radar for an entire country.  There is nothing I can do as a fighter pilot.  No way can I climb that high and catch them fast enough.  Nor do I want to be forced to do that, as I really don't play the game to do buff intercepts.

Make it so that dropping the HQ simply removes blanket coverage.  IE, when HQ dar goes down, I can only see radar info for the areas close to me.  Think of it as hitting comms or something.  Don't ever, ever take away enemy bar dar.  That's just dumb, it just makes people log out.  I don't know where to go to find good action then.  When radar goes down, folks start to log, numbers fall, and both of the other two countries see who can beat you fastest.  I don't care how out-numbered I am, as long as I know where to go to fight generally.  The last thing we need is to make it easier to reset the country with lower numbers, and that's exactly what this radar system does.
