Why is it so?
« on: March 19, 2001, 11:24:00 AM »
Why is it so that many memebrs are creating so many good terraines, only to see that in the main arena we dont have any of them, after all why did HT create the terraine editor ?

Marcof, for the LAST time no one has built or submitted a MAIN ARENA terrain to HTC. These player developed terrains look GREAT in screen shots. However, the terrains themselves are either too big and good for historical events or they are too small and work well for small events or, more so, for H2H.

As for the textures? Who knows. But we only recieved the NEW terrain builder a week ago and we had this terrain pre-1.06 release. So wait for the next release that includes a terrain and if it's the same old-same old THEN squeak.

Yes Westy is a bit uptight.

I'm not sure why they aren't used more.  I'm pretty sure that if they were used, some of them would prove to have some real "holes" as far as gameplay is concerned.  But it still would be fun to have a new one each week or something like that.  Even if a map sucked, we'd only have to fly in it for a week.

Surely its time to look at a two sided war, not a WW2A Axis vs Allies (yet) but just make two teams. I think alot of people get annoyed and log off under the impression that two sides are plotting against them, time and time again I see players saying thisso why not try a two sided war? at least with two sides more interesting arena's can be used as its alot easier to make an arena which is not necessarily a mirror image and yet fair on both sides than it is to make an interesting arena that will allow three sides to compete on an even playing field. Then at least we can use some of the terrains created by the community.

Uptight? Not really. Exasperated? Perhaps. Maybe because this same question keeps being asked over and over again for the past several weeks. Each time it's posted here as if  the author had been hit by a bolt of lightning and they are amazed that HTC has overlooked such a fantastic pool of creativity.

Nothing personal mind you. It's just your turn to  have this "original" idea/question .... this week.

Edited: It's also fueled by my once again increasing distaste for the character, tome.. what ever you want to call it,  permeating this web board once again.

I see your point Westy however my point is that, and should be viewed as, a plus for all the chaps who create great maps, lets all hope that they all contiue to churn out great maps, and lets hope that one day we will be able to fly them enmass.

CC ICE: (

Your the first and only that I know of, well now. As for the lack of reply? Seems to be the  a running theme to alot of player input ( be it ideas, terrains, etc) sent in.

I wrote a post about myself trying to create a terrain, and that I thought HTC was open to new terrain ideas...

It was deleted. Not sure if it was accidental or deliberate, but I certainly didn't bother with a terrain after that.
