Briefly, here's the story for those that don't know. We were hitting a deep base (a32) in jabos. I drop ord and we decide it's too difficult to get a goon in, so I head for home. It's decided that
hitting a base closer to home would be better (a42). I decide that
I've got a few cannon rounds left, let me see what I can do on the way back to base. On the way, I run into 2 ponys. I hade SOME alt, so I decide I'd better be the agressor or else they would. Almost right of the bat I pop a pony. I tussle with the other one for a while and manage to get a ping or two on him. He turns tail and leaves. I figure he's a sissy, but I must have hit him hard as later I get credit for the kill. Well, they hit one of my fuel tanks and now I have even LESS cannon left. Better head for home. Well, all the people furballing over 42 need help, so I figure, hell, go for the glory. I divert to 42 only to find it a bit hotter than I expected. Somehow a Spit becomes interested in me and, with some difficulty, I manage to down him with my MGs (I wasted my cannons on the first pass without a ping). No cannon, leaking fuel, and in a 110. Now I KNOW it's time to go home. Halfway across the channel, sputter sputter bluurpp....out of gas and I can SEE friendly base. Well, I deadstick it in and roll as far as I can towards the closest "landing zone" I see and this is as close as I got. Of course, officially I "ditched". Lazy squealing ground crew doesn't want to come out and roll my plane home!!!
