I'd love to pipe the radio into my headphones but have the game sounds still coming out of my speakers. Voice would be perfect then. At least for me.

I use a telex usb mic (no earphones just the mic and a head strap thingy). They were 40 dollars but well worth it. I have heard a range of prices for good sounding mics, I would just spend 30-40 dollars and get a really nice headphone/mic setup. I do know guys that use cheapo setups and do fine, but that tends to be the exception.

Two things,

1 is there any way to get rid of the annoying and useless "Base under attack" voice? I mean hell if it doesnt say what base what good is it? There is ALWAYS a base under attack. thats like telling me there is oxygen in the air Im breathing.

2 My Mic problems. in asmuch as I cant get anyone to sit still long enough to help me get the mic set right. Here are my problems.

Often when I transmit people are telling me I sound garbled or as though Im talking underwater. Often the very people telling me this do not sound a whole lot better or they are breaking up themselves.
Now does anyone have suggestions on the settings. Which ones work the best and what setting does what?
Also is there anyway to test it myself and hear myself so I can sit and make adjustments as needed untill I can get it at least legable?
