HiTechs' new "Ride" (RV8)
« on: September 25, 2002, 05:52:02 AM »
Was flying hi-cover for a single friendly last night.  Looked down and it was Mistah' HiTech his-self!  He was doing little lazy chandelles, simply for the joy of flying (I guess? had no other tactical reason?)

A text discussion broke out, and making a long story short, HT has just solo'd a real plane enroute to getting his PPL ticket.

Also, (and more interesting to me), he just bought an air-O'-plane,, ta' boot!  He got a hot "home-built", called a Vans' RV8.

Also, (and EVEN MORE INTERESTING to me), he mentioned that he may be getting together with Vans' (most widely built kitplane in the world), and create an online RV series flight simulator.  A fantastic training aid to augment Mike Segars' RV transition training program..

My best wishes to him on all counts!  The RV's are great rides!

Heres a couple pics of an RV8,, which is described as follows by a former F16 Jock after demo riding an RV8:

"..it's the closest thing a civilian will ever get to flying a real F16.."

Here's the "business end" of HT's new toy..  (needs a nose cannon however)

I do believe that RV8 you are showing is the Vans RV8 that was on display at Oshkosh this year.

If HT is buying an RV (a wise choice), yes they are great aircraft and a blast to fly, then obviously we are paying him too much money!   Next thing ya know, our fees will be sponsoring a T28, hoooyahhhh.   :)

Howdy..
Actually this RV8 was flown into the EAA-486 Vans' Fly-In @ Oswego NY in 1999 by Bill Benedict,, formerly Vans #2 man in charge.

I had the honor of sitting with this man at the banquet.  He & his son were killed in this plane a few weeks later, enroute to another Fly-In.

A very sad day.  Mr. Benedict was a really nice guy. Never talked down to the simpleton RV builders like me..  ;-)

well i hope that HT will get rid of the training wheel up front... i mean REAL MEN fly

TAILDRAGGERS !!

+ the RVs look a lot  more sexy with a "conventional" gear rather than a nosewheel :)

Sweet ride, HT!  Are ya gonna get SuperFly or Nate to do up a special paint job?  Some HTC logos on the nose?
