Luckly of the 2 transition RV instructors (for insurance) is located in arlington. Have 2 hours so far in RV6.

Probably not right away. The FAA issues these to the "manufacturer", and by that they consider that guy who actually built it and put his name on the data plate to be the person that will get the Repairmans Certificate.

The path that can be attempted when someone buys a previously built and flown homebuilt is to work on it for a year or two under the supervision of a licensed A&P, then petition the FAA for the Repairmens Cert. At this point, it all depends on the generousity of that particular Fed.

Of course, when HT has his Private Certificate in his pocket, he will then be able to at least perform "Preventive Maintenance". This is limited to the tasks defined in part 43 as preventive maintenance.

Hey HiTech,

Your RV-9 is a great plane, and great looker. Congrats. I envy!

Take it a step at a time, don't overfly your ability, or your airplane.

Have an instructor take you up in a Decathlon or Pitts, and wring it out with him. When you fly your RV, respect it.

I have plenty names of the guys, I knew and flew with, ate breakfast with, tinkered with airplanes with, went to Oshkosh with, and also was shocked at their death when they put a hole in the ground. I know they died doing what they loved, but they could have...been the cool "old" guy at the airport.

Fly to be the cool "old" guy!
