1600x1200 res don't show properly with Radeon8500
« on: September 26, 2002, 03:53:46 AM »
Selecting 1600x1200 res with all other different video settings won't show a full screen view, but an enlarged partial picture. This is not a matter of adjusting the screen. I got the 64MB version of 8500 with latest drivers & best performance settings + AMD XP 1600+ (tweaked to 1570MHz) + Asus a7v266-e + 256MB (133-DDR), what gives?

I'd try newer drivers first.

Does your monitor support 1600x1200?

I've got ViewSonic PT770 and 1600x1200 desktop in Win2k seemed to work with lower (60Hz) refreshrate. I tried both enabling and disabling vertical sync + 16&32bit colors. I know ppl with same setup except the monitor and op.system and they've got it to work, so it could be my monitor or Ati W2k drivers causing this. Any one got this setup to work at high res?
P.S. Interesting thing occurred: as I took screenshots to illustrate the abnormal view, a slice of the right side of the screen missing and tower looking odd-zoom-like, the pictures showed perfectly normal and centered 1600x1200 views, but in game I dont see that.

No answer here but I've heard of this problem with the new 9700 card on the Nascar 2K2 boards. I wonder if an older set of drivers might work as the other folks with the problem were using what they said was the "latest" drivers.
