I am taking the liberty to post here cause I think some of you know Carrot, Barry Hayes, or have flown with him. It is in the middle of another bout of a Brain Tumor and is back in the hospital. If you can take the time, post some good thoughts here and Torgen will grab, and get to Mama Carrot. This is copied for our beta page..

Guys, I think Barry is going to need some morale boosting. This thing is kicking his bellybutton at the moment. The previous painkillers are now ineffective, and they are trying to find something that works. He's in hospital, and they are having to knock him out so he can get some sleep.

After yesterday seeming so much better, he had a bout of pain this morning, following what seems to have been a roughish night. We went along this morning and he seemed to be coming right again. Went away for lunch, then came back for a while, still apparently OK so headed off for a quick visit to a friend who was in the main part of Mercy Hospital after knee surgery and then when we got back to see Barry again he was in the throes of one of his worst yet sessions. Took them nearly two hours and a cocktail of drugs to finally get him settled. We have just come home leaving him sound sleep. They asked if we wanted to stay all night but felt if he was going to be kept mostly asleep maybe we would do better getting some sleep ourselves. They have my phone number if we are needed/wanted. Looks like we might be in for a day or two of not so good as they get the painkillers sorted out and at a level in his system. Feel so helpless, but they certainly didn't mess around and were doing so much for him - thank goodness he is there and not at home!!

I told her that I'd collect messages from the boys (and girls) here and forward them. Reply in this thread, and I'll send them to Mama Carrot and she can print them out and read them to Barry.

New Zealand has not step up and payed for his chemo which is about 2k a month US. We are taking donations thru Pay Pal to help every month. First month didnt cost his family a nickel, and with luck when he goes home and starts another, they wont pay a cent then. If the treatment works everyone believes the NZ gov will step up. Seems kinda dollar cruel. .. This wasnt a post for money, just give a post to raise some spirits.

Son, there are games and there is real life. Someone I and quite possibly many in AH, have flown with in wbs and fought with and against in ww2ol is in a fight for his life. He has an inoperable brain tumor. The Chemo has caused something that is giving him so much pain he most be sedated to unconscienous. Many of US have cancer, are fighting the aftermath, so many of US have lost loved ones. There is so little that we can do. The only thing I can do for Carrot, is to help take the financial burden off of his family. I will do this every month till the NZ gov steps up.

Damn you piss me off.

Braz,

That is incredibly rude and unconsiderate from you.

Because you don't like Hardcase, you don't like Carrot either, whos played lots of sims and is very respectable person.
He is whole other person than Hardcase.

I hope you will never suffer the same Carrot has and is suffering.

Hopefully you won't be either going through the same Hardcase has gone through and still is.

Hopefully the life will mature you in more considerate way.

Though...

I don't remember Carrot being a part of the AH community. This is one of the first thoughts I had when I saw Hardcase's post here and on AGW.

While I whish him the best of luck in his current battle, I'm still somewhat stricken by the idea that the first time I've heard mention of him was with a pay-pal link in the thread. Maybe just a "if you'd like to help, let me know and I'll send you information".

It just struck me as odd... no matter how needed.
