Author Topic: MS FFB2 Forces problems (Read 391 times)

I seem to recall seeing this mentioned before. I set my return to center to medium or low in windows, feels fine. Launch AH still fine. Spawn on runway and suddenly RTC seems to be set to max.

I Alt tab out and Change the RTC in windows, when I Alt tab back the RTC will be fine but the forces gone

. If I restart AH its BAck to square one. Either Full RTC with Forces or medium RTC with no Stall/gun effects.

Can anyone help?

I got tired of this problem and solved it by unplugging power cord to FF2. No forces or RTC but works very smooth and stick stays where ya leave it. I also disabled Sidewinder program and make stick profiles in AH.

Symptoms
The feedback force setting in the SideWinder Force Feedback 2 game may change unexpectedly. This behavior may occur under the following conditions:
You set the feedback force in the SideWinder Force Feedback 2 game controller to low.< They neglect to mention that it dosent matter what RTC you set it to it will allways go Full after 2nd button press, Happens In Windows ME too under new controller software. >

You turn the feedback force off.
The setting may work the first time that you pull the trigger, but the next time that you pull the trigger, the feedback force setting may be changed. The feedback force setting may be changed to high or it may be turned back on. This problem occurs when you run the SideWinder Force Feedback 2 on a Windows XP-based computer.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the SideWinder Force Feedback 2 game controller on a Windows XP-based computer.

So thats It!. If youve got XP dont get a FFB2 Just look at their Resolution and the date this was published

With XP And FFB2's becoming more common I can see this becoming a Bigger issue for HTC. Could they either lobby MS for a fix or perhaps put a Return to Center Slider in along with the other Force settings?

PS Ive gone back to using my old FFBPro. I dont fancy using floppy unplugged / Rock rigid plugged FFB2 until this issue is fixed.

PPS While Im a Fan of Win 98SE I can see thats its time I moved on. I wish there were other options but looking at new Nvidia drivers and FFB makes 98 stuff obsolescent. Just glad my FFB Pro works for now. I even tried to buy a new one but nowhere has them in stock anymore.

Interesting...

I have MS FFB2 and XP Pro...
I do not have this problem... FFB2 works just fine.

However, I have noticed when flying a BUFF formation when the first buff gets damaged and the FFB starts to vibrate... The vibration stays with me even when I switch to an undamaged buff in the formation... Also upon a crash, my stick will continue to jump until I hit TOWER...

Furzy, try ebay, ive gotten 3 for backups so far, cheaper too.

my opinion, msffb pro is better than the ffb 2

Thanks Blackfalcon Tho Im waiting to see if SP1 fixes it If not Ill try XP PRo upgrade If that fails Ill get another FFBPro.

BTW Heres A snip from my system info... Seems like a lot of things for one IRQ. I think I read that this in normal for Win 2k and XP. Is this right??

AGREED !!! I would still be flying my MS FFBPro if I hadn't twisted it out of its socket... The main difference to me is the lack of buttons available. FFB2 has only half the available buttons... What the hell were they thinking ?

the irq's need to b seperated.

your agp slot shares w/agp?, first i've seen that

this is usual setup i use(not all, but most) :

vid-agp (duh)
skip a pci and put sound card in pci2

skip nuther for nic or modem

try diff setups for assigning irq's

ideal is all seperate

ps: dont worry bout the acpi stuff only the devices

Just checked Motherboard I allready had Sound card and NIC seperated away from AGP slot and each other. A bit of research shows that it normal for XP systems to have lots of devices bundled under the one IRQ under the ACPI thingy.

Update !! HAve gotten controls a little softer by turning the Trim in AH's forcefeed settings down to 0%. Not using the FFB2 software either.

If I disable the Trim Force My stick is Floppy All else fine. If I Enable Trim At 0%, it sets RTC to Hard all the Way up to Rock rigid at 100%.

HTC Can this Slider be tweaked a bit to allow lower forces, please?
