There is no whine.

Here is a whine.

Karnak flew the spit14 exactly how you need to fly one in the MA.  So you have the option of either getting kills or surviving, but not both.

Great write-up Karnak

The 14 is a great plane, and I for one am glad it's perked like it is.  I like taking the 14 over a base my team is trying to capture and using it as bait.  Flown right the doggon thing is untouchable and (lol) I've been known to latch hordes of perk drooling dweebs on my tail while 2 or 3 buddies sneak in and grab the base.  THAT is fun (heck, I get just as much fun out of that as I do getting long kill streaks).

Not only is this a whine (as you said it is), but it's also completely untrue.

It's an exaggeration to make the point that the spit14 won't survive without the advantage.

aw comon theres a million engagements more exciting than this!

sheesh ive had better fights in p40e's and 202's than this!.

the point im trying to make here is this was a completely dull encounter.Aggression is the key to enjoyment in this game if you ask me.Take some risks, engage against the odds! not only will you begin to learn how to fool those who think they 'have you' with tricks you learn through sheer necessity but when you do win against the odds the rewards are far higher than being able to say you got back alive.

Im sorry , its a nice write up but completely dull for not having one moment where something special was done.whats worse you have people saying wtg and well done.BORING!

I for one enjoyed the "story".  And that is how I read it.  Not as an instruction manual on how to fly a Spit XIV, but as a pilots recollection.  And hints on survival.  There is wisdom in the story to be sure, but read it for enjoyment, not education.  You want a "How to Manual", read the instructions.

And to those of you that say it isn't a good "Article", let us compare it to your writings.  OH, sorry, you didn't submit any.

Well done Karnak.  I enjoyed experiencing your flight, and I learning something from the story.

Eh?

What the hell is that for?

And Karnak...maybe if there was a way to tone down the Mini-Napoleons over there you could get more help.  I used to switch every once in a while to fly with the Rooks when none of my squadmates were on, but I got tired of people yelling at me to fly where they wanted me to or accusing me of being a spy.

Hmm.  I've never noticed this.  I always do whatever I want to do (enemy cooperation allowing).

Hi SirLoin (of beef?)
I was the La that you so merciless gunn'd down yesterday in an F4U4.. and I say to you for it!  (remember?  someguy radio'd: SirLoin of SPAM!)

I was enroute to join a field raid up north, when I spotted an F4U4 about 5k above me (at like 21k? 31k?)

So, the call went out "PERK PLANE!"..  my gawd, the place went nuts as you soared over-head.  WEPS blasting,, noses up, all straining for alt. Sheesh, what a Con Magnet a perky is aye?

Anyways, I had no idea of the manuevering degradation of a lowsey La7 up at 30k!  The darn thing handles like a B17 up there..

You did a slow climbing turn to left,, I setup a nice/nice passing deflection shot (slightly nose up, not noticing that my airspeed was now GONE!)

Then your F4U4 cut back on a dime!  I opened fire 1 second late and you flew under the bullet stream.. damn!

No problem, I'll do a loop and catch ya' on the other side.. (YEAH RIGHT!)..

Nose up, up, uuuuuuup,,  not going over? HUH! What da' F$%&K ??

Look in the rear-view to see how far away you must've dove down..  But you DID NOT DIVE DOWN!

You were coming back up! FAST!  RIGHT UP MY prettythang!!

It was a long ride down to earth from 30,000 ft.

Nice engagement. I learn't a good lesson, and it won't happen again ~

Did you make it back safely to land the F4U4?  As I was floating down in pieces, my countrymen were doing their best to cut ya' off.. ?

Actually, A B17 will outmaneuver you at that altitude without problem :)
