Rip, how many bowl games has the Pac-10 won against the ACC since 1992?

0-3 since 1992.  4-5 since 1975.

Who does FSU play?

#1 Miami, #7 Florida, #10 Notre Dame, #19 Iowa State (already beaten) and Louisville (already lost to) are the non-conference opponents.  Louisville will probably be ranked at the end of the season. (they lost by 5 points and 3 points and have a very good shot at going 10-2)  In conference, NC State is ranked #17 and Clemson and Georgia Tech received some votes in the AP poll.

Five ranked teams, including the #1 team in the nation and the #7 team who's only loss is to the #1 team.  Three fringe teams, well one will be after this week.

Look at the Pac-10.  5 ranked teams and 2 fringe teams (Cal and UCLA received votes in the AP poll)

They may not be conference games, but FSU plays as many ranked opponents as Washington or Oregon does.

My personal OPINION of Conference Rankings (Historical)
« Reply #34 on: September 28, 2002, 12:31:47 AM »
Remember this is just my "biased" opinion since I live East of the MS. river.

#1 SEC
#2 Tie: Big Ten, Big Twelve
#4 ACC
#5 Pac-10
#6 Big East

The rest don't really matter. Even though they have some good teams in them they do not consistently have teams ranked in the Top 25.

The ACC is one of the fastest rising conferences there is. I attribute that to the fact of FSU killing everyone in it for several years and those teams like Maryland (over-rated early on), Clemson and NC State going out and getting the players to compete on the same level as FSU. I believe if there was a school like FSU in the Pac-10 that truely blasted everyone for several years in a row then you would see that conference move up quickly because of the sheer numbers of athletes that are coming out of the high population areas out there.

Just a quick comparison in Alabama last year there were ~70-80  legitimate Division 1-A players that came out of high school. I believe I read something recently where Florida and Texas were #1 and #2 with something like 300-400 legitimate Division 1-A players with California, Arizona and one other western state coming in behind them. Not to mention many of those western players head East to play for teams that consistently win and put players in the NFL.

I am sure Nifty or some other "biased" college football fan can straighten out any indiscrepancies I might have made. I am going to bed.
