Here ya go Elfie, I'm feeling guilty over a dead animal...

So I'm on my mornin smoke break today and I'm smokin away.  I was about 1/2 way through my 2nd cig and all of a sudden I hear this real loud TWEEEEET TWEEEEET TWEEEEEET!!!! I mean loud too.  I spin around towards the sound and see this bird hanging from a branch at the end of what looks like a broken limb or something, then it fell to the ground.  IT's still making an aweful racket so I go and look over the fence at it.

The sparrow is on the ground in a life or death struggle with some sort of small snake (about 14" or 15" maybe up to 20")  They're flipping all over the place and I watched till I thought the bird was dead.  I go back inside and tell everybody in the office and a few of us went back out to check it out.  The poor little bird was still trying to get away from the snake but finally stopped moving.

About 20 min. later our secretary comes in and says "the bird is 1/2 gone".  We go back out there, but can't get a good look through the fence so we walked around to the other side for a closer look.  I bent down to look at it and sure enough 1/2 the damn bird was already in the snake.  Now the bird was like 10 times as thick as the snake, really wierd thing to see.

Unfortunately I got too close and spooked the snake.  He quickly spit the bird out of his mouth and took off not to return.  :(  So because of my stupidity the poor little bird died for nothing :( and the snake went hungry and will have to kill another little bird.

 BUT :D

at least the ants are happy!
