Well, I for one am waiting for HTC's response to these names.

Their action or inaction will be a telltail for what direction AH is going. Either questionable names will be acted on by them or they will allow such names. One only affects the person who's name is in question...the other affects, what could be now or could become later, a larger portion of HTC's customers.

Questionable to you, me, Joe Lex, who?  J_A_B is offended by the time of day, I'm not offended by anything.  Someone mentioned a polpot online; he and Himmler would have gotten along great, but the name never blipped on anyone's radar screen.

Should we have an online form so we can express our offence at a name?

It's a slippery slope, and I don't blame HTC one iota for staying the HECK out of it.

Do with they'd end these silly threads, though.

That is SO offenseve...I'm Puck from Shakespeare, who stole the character from folklore.

Shakespeare's character was a cross between "Puck" and "Robin Goodfellow", who were quite similar but from different cultures.  In both cases he was a real pain in the bellybutton when you get right down to it.

There's a reason I got the callsign, after all.  I didn't pick it originally.

Here's a thought. If the Nazis would have prevailed and won the war what might be different?

Lets say that this game had been made, and people were using the names "Eisenhower", "Freedom", "Doughboy", "RAF", and the like. How fast do you think the police would be at their door in a Nazi run government?

One of the things that the allies fought for was freedom. Does that freedom include the right to have a handle that others find offensive?

That is the real question and, unlike the real world, one man decides that(Hitech).

If he decides that the names are allowed, then those that dislike it have their freedom to find another game. Although I would wonder about anyone who would allow someone elses handle to remove them from a game they like.

I really don't have a problem with names like that Shane. Like I said it just goes to show their intelligence or rather their lack of it.

In this situation, that's HTC's call...they CAN take some direction from their subscribers but ultimately it's their call.

Should be a no brainer IMO.

A 'questionable' name taken away only affects that person, a 'questionable' name that remains 'could' affect a larger portion of the player base.

It's just common sense.

I love that.  The only thing common about common sense is how uncommon it is :D

Actually in this case it's not "common sense", but personal prefernce.  The plethora of posts on this subject demonstrates nicely how unlikely we are to find a common solution.  One person's obvious solution is going to really boil someone else's blood, and they're going to drop their jaw at all the people who can't understand why everyone else just doesn't get it (and so on).

It's nice to see some humor popping up in the threads, though  :)

It's even nicer to see everyone embroiled in what amounts to a political debate about something the courts call (I think) "community standards" rather than how this plane or that should be perked, the Pizza map sux, and can you please model $MyFavoriteAircraft.

Speaking of which...

PERK THE C.202!  Bring the Sopwith Camel to AH!  Ban the Uterus (can I say that without offending anyone? :D ) map!

I really hate it when you're right.  Quit that.

Still falls under community standards, though  :D  Difference is HTC is the body that determines what the standard is.  Of course no matter what they choose roughly 40% of the people will be up in arms.

We need to get this on the Wine rotation schedule, between perking the LA7 and numbers in the main arena not being even...
