Come on, you can quote parts of the bible to fit anything you want.  Don't like homosexuals?  Bible says kill'em!  Your brother die?  Sorry, bible says you have to have sex with his wife.

Heh, cool link.

As to all you who critizise sandman for posting it:

People are equally horrified at hearing the Christian religion doubted, and at seeing it practiced.Samuel Butler

A fundamentalist is someone who hates sin more than he loves virtue.John H. Schaar.

:D :D

And sure, you can take quotes from the bible and use it - it's what preachers do. They just go on and on about their own interpretations of it later on.

The bible is actually very good for argument. if you cannot find a verse to support your argument in the new testament, go to the old one and you'll have the opposite view :).

There's nothing like a quote (or scripture) taken out of context:

Let he who has no sword, go and sell his garment, and buy one.

LOL, that's great.  Anyone who posts anything or discusses anything that is religious in context and says anything that is less than flattering lacks self confidence.  And what's the reasoning behind that?  :D

SOB: And what's the reasoning behind that?
You are expecting reasoning from a religious person (the author of the quote) on religious matters? I think you should be demoted from an atheist to a plain unbeliever for such ignorance. :)

Miko, define "Religious person".  Me thinks you open mouth and engage without much background on the person to engage with.

Heh rip, I don't attack religion, nor am I insecure about something I don't have :).

If you see the bible as an amusing book, you got my perspective on things - and one does not attack amusing books.

But contradictions are amusing :).

post may seem like blasphemy. Then again, one has to remember that for the non theist, blasphemy is a victimless crime.

So do not take offence chaps, coz none is intended :)

lol! Jesus was a liberal, and a radical one too, given the times he lived in.

And he died for it. It was the conservative in his society that did him in!

(BTW, I'm not actually a Christian, but I believe he did exist and his teachings are valid in some cases. There is no Christian god.)

Ripsnort - and it's no surprise you trot out that 'You atheists must be all insecure for criticizing my religion' crap. You'll be rolling out the 'You'll all be praying to my god, on your death-beds' toejame soon. Which is euqally insulting/patronizing.
