Nominations for Whine of the Year
« on: October 07, 2002, 02:57:22 PM »
Rude, I'd like to take this opportunity to nominate J_A_B for starting this whole offensive name thing as a subterfuge to get his beloved underscores online.

That should get at least a 9.8 for both style and content, and a 10.0 for reaction.

I would think you'd make a much better candidate since this is the second thread you've started whining about J_A_B.

I view the flamefests I inadvertently created as a good thing (ugly, yes, but good).

People flame each other on a BB like this because it means they have strong feelings for an issue.

People might not agree with me.  That's fine.  Anyone who reads that "other" newsgroup should be well aware my opinions aren't always mainstream.  No problem, I can take the heat and don't hold a grudge.

I'm glad that you people (directed at everyone reading this) CARE enough to comment and forcefully stick up for your beliefs, regardless of which side of the issue you're on.  As long as people continue to care, AH has a secure future.  When people stop caring, when apathy sets in, THAT is when I'll start worrying.

I'm sorry, Puck, but you consider someone voicing concern over Nazi related callsigns as a whiner?

Many people don't want ANYTHING to do with the Nazi political regime in AH. Even a simple callsign makes them uncomfortable. Why can't you understand that?

How some of you can draw a destinction between a callsign and a LW squad is nothing short of convenient.

Nazi Germany was the head of all war participation by that nation, be it an individual or a group of individuals.

As for whining? It's no longer worth drawing attention to those who's outlook is petty.

Selective Reasoning Horn.

They were all tools for Hitler to unleash his evil upon the world, but for whatever reason the Nazi aviators get a "get out of jail free" card...

I can understand finding the nazi symbol offensive, however, isn't the modern German Air Force still called Luftwaffe? Why be offended by the use of a name in use today?

it's not like the LW squads are practicing naziism (sp)
or anything like it.

Nor are they necessarily trying to portray the nazi political stance.

they're simply flying planes that the germans designed.

get over it already.

Same thing could be said of those who took the name of another of Hitler's means of destruction and world dominance.

but I digress, people can play pretend with whatever they want... I don't care... it's not like you can't kill them repeatedly in the game if you don't like their name...

Please explain to me how you would know that a player who chooses a Nazi callsign is practicing naziism or anything like it.....further, how would you know that they are trying to portray the Nazi political stance?

Ya see, if a player chooses a Nazi callsign, then proceeds to dump Neo-Nazi propoganda on channel 1 or this board, or instigates confrontation in the game or on this board, then I say, push the button...we do not need players like that.

From what I've seen and heard of these boys in question, they were not guilty of anything other than being on the recieving end of some uptight player attitudes.

Again, Dale will do what Dale does....conduct his business as he see's fit. I'm ok with that as well as players who choose what they feel are cool sounding callsigns.

Enough said.

that's why :)

and no, I don't know what people are 'thinking' but I sure as heck don't base anything on their callsigns.
Look at mine.. I'm not German or anything.. just liked the name and it has been the same since early WB days.. I even kept the original 6 letters (limit imposed by WB).
