Weenie Time...

This is a classic....

After farting around a bit with a Pony to learn the basics. I decided to grab a =B17=
and try my hand at mud moving...

"How hard could this be?", I say... I mean over in AW, I wasn't the best buffer out there, but was definatly "ranked".

So I get the buff up, gear up, identify an enema base to egg and fly over to it.

<so far so good>

I get a reasonable line up - plane trimmed out - still OK.

Hit O to open my doors, and F6 to get to the scope.

I find myself looking AT the scope as opposed to through it.

It *never* occured to me to look DOWN...
(not *even* for a second)

I'm sure you know about the Zoom key.

When you press Numpad0 to look down (best to map it to your joystick if you fly bombers a lot), use the Z key to zoom in and use the bracket keys ([]) to zoom in or out. You can pretty much pin point a gun implacement from 30K if you zoom all the way in.

If you have any questions about anything in the game, I'd be willing to help you.

If you have Thrustmaster gear I have config files that make it easy.

it must have tooken me a full week to notice the zoom in the bomb site. (doh!)

I was around 28k and couldnt see a single thing except the hangers.

DOnt forget that people like me wait in the clouds for bombers on there bomb run to attack. Once your in your bombsite you cant see us comming  :D

Now this is a feature I'm VERY much looking forward to experiencing.  Unfortunatley AW never had such thing as weather back when I played (been over a year since I've flown AW)

I recently found clouds to be extremely useful when I was in my Lanc.  Had a new guy (one of my squad COs in AW) gunning for me and a P51 started attacking as we approached our target field.  I noticed there was cloud over the target, and dived down below it to make my drop, then went back up into the cloud to shake off the bandit - and it worked!  We lost him and dived for home....   :)

Don't feel bad, I remember trying to use the arrow keys to get my "eye" to the sight lense.   So I'm muttering in frustration, and my son hears me, walks over and holds down the 0 num pad key...viola!   :D

Oh my, then you're gonna love this favorite AW tactic of mine, which is to run slow over a base, lined up over target, and sitting in the gun waiting your goofs like you   ;)

That's a pretty common tactic in AH.  Many times I've tried to sucker a fighter into comming straight up my 6 by making it look like I was on my bomb run.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.  Smart fighter pilots always[/i] attack bombers with the assumption that the guns are manned and watching them.

And anyone who attacks a bomber from it's dead six is not a smart fighter pilot...

(hmmmm note to self: no more dead six bomber attacks)   ;)
