It doesn't matter how what they have inside of it works, it just matters what it does, and how well it does it. You can't call it a PC, because it isn't - it fits a different niche. If it is a niche you aren't interested in, fair enough, but if you are, then it is a very viable system. Fact is, it IS much more powerful than the PS2. If you want to play console games, who cares how it gets there?

It depends on terms of looks over playability. Some guys say the X-Box is best...some say the PS2 is best, and others say the GCN is the best.

In all fairness to either of the three consoles...PS2 wins the "war" hands down...it's got far better games that any other system to date. Next in line behind that is the GCN, cause it's Nintendo...and thry can make great games. Third in line is the X-Box...and the only reason it is last in sales in America (and it will flop hard in Japan) is because it does not have any killer apps on it. Halo is said to be the best game of all time, but I'll be able to save $200 when I get it for PC later in the year.

I'd go with the PS2...as it has a wider selection of games (GTA3, Gran Turismo 3, Frequency, Metal Gear Solid 2). If you want to save money slighty, go with the GCN...as it has some killer games (Eternal Darkness, Rouge Squadron 2, Resident Evil)

You make the call...IMO the X-Box only has good LOOKING games...not good PLAYING games.

Even if the XBox could also play PS1 games (it doesn't) it wouldn't weigh in my decision to buy it. My PS1 still works and both the PS2 and XBox wouldn't make them look better or play better. Are you planning on buying some PS1 (inferior) game and you don't have a PS1? Get a PS2 then. LOL Ended up giving my nephew my old PS1 and all my games after I got my XBox. Some console games can be made better than for the PC as the console has only one sound chip/card, video chip/card, etc, unlike the PC which can have many different options. The XBox is a more powerful console than either the PS2 or Game Cube. You'll see even more games that the PS2 just can't touch. If you still want to play many PS1 games, get a PS1 and an XBox.

Unless you are buying it for a child, stay away from the Nintendo Game Cube. I got one for Xmas and I am really disappointed in it. Very few games out for it, and 70% of the ones that they do have a cartoonish platform games.

Ah, Mickey...yet another of those who stereotype the GCN cause it's purple and has a handle.

Thing about the GCN is it is a fun platform to play. I own both a PS2 and a GCN and I play both of them all the time. I only go on gameplay...not what a game looks like. You never know...jsut because some game doesn't have guns and blood and heads going everywhere does not mean it isn't a fun game. Mario on the GCN is one of the best looking and best playing games out there...platform wise at least.

Give GCN a chance...it will shine in its own time.

As for this debate...go with PS2...

The Woman was smart enough to buy me a black one.

I never knocked the gameplay of the GCN, just the limited number of titles and the fact that 70% of them are based on cartoons/skateboarding.
