Ditching in a GV
« on: October 15, 2002, 07:58:47 AM »
Just thought I would complain about the current modeling for GV's when it comes to ditching. Why is it that a GV that is damaged can ditch and not give the enemy who pinged them up a kill. I believe this only happens within a certain proximity of friendly fields but IMHO i think if you are in a vehicle of any kind and take damage : #1 if you ditch with damage inflicted you get a kill message and #2 the kill goes down in the stats! To many people in here use this loophole in the GV modeling to up their K/D ratio. I consider these people as stat potatos and they really tick me off! Was in the pizza map today usual droves of GV's battling it out on the canyon floors, make one pass on a GV see them smoking, roll back around to finish em off and BAM they dissappear! Then seconds later reappear at the spawn point no damage, and blowing off your tail because there guns are working again!

Just hoping im not the only one frustrated with this practice? If you are being chased in a plane and get pinged and bail or ditch it goes down as a kill doesn't it? If so why the difference in a GV?

Whew feel better now please feel free to bash away now:rolleyes:

There are only two ways that would happed AFAIK. One is if the GV is still on either the city, airfield runway or GV hanger < enemy or friendly, it doesn't matter > tile and exits there after being damaged.

The other is if the GV ditches AFTER the pilot who damaged him dies and there are no enemy within proximity kill range.

Now, an undamaged GV that ditched when no enemy planes are about would only be a ditch and no kill awarded.

Does that shed some light on it?

Am I totaly missing something here?

I'd have to disagree Lars...

Just last night we had a battle on the ground west of A1 on the baltic map, Knights would spawn from A53, and the enemy was spawning from A2...NEITHER COUNTRY was near a safe 'exit' position at the spawn points. I hit a guy with 8 AP rds, he exits, I get no kill, he comes back, hit's me once and takes out turret, I exit, he gets the kill. Something's just not right.
