I thought 20 to 40 people was a good turn out for WW. More is better, but it worked. KOTH, wtf is that. I've never been to one. I had a squaddie tell me one was fixin to start, I wasn't really interested. Wen. are much much better for me than Fri.

I've had allot of fun in WW, actually won a round once if you can believe that. Prizes? Who needs stinkin bribes to go have fun FURBALLING  to my heats content?

Oh, almost forgot. A smaller arena for the event, WW would be nice. Koth? BAH!

I hate to agree with lazs, but he is right.

As for making it known to players, someone above mentioned the way people logged into AW, through the web page, which could get flashing banner ads to attract attention.

Also, if I remember right, the SEA description was updated to show the current event that was running.

Perhaps HTC could add a feature to the top-level clip-board that could somehow advertise a special event was scheduled to happen. The MOTD is ok, but it's just text. Something Eye-catching that could be shown on the clip-board BEFORE logging into the MA might draw a large crowd.

As for prizes... how about a free month's subscription to AH? It's only once a month, how much could it hurt HTC to give away $15.00 worth of gaming to the winner?

As for time and day... Three Friday nights are already reserved for TOD. That was hard enough to get the wife to agree on. The Friday off of TOD is restricted to wife only events.

The Euro crowd has a good following. Couldn't one of them become a CM and run a mirror event during Euro-friendly time?

As far as winging goes, I would personally like to see the same type of KOTH event for wingman pairs. Not a 2-v-2 engagement, but an entire arena full of wing pairs. Last wing pair (or single member) flying wins.

Oh yeah, one with a lid. Some guys did get the "this is a stadium and I'm going to watch the action till its almost over then swoop in and win this thing from these *uc**ing stoopid dweebs" attitude that a lid would perhaps stop.

I'd rather not see a prize.

With the amount of nitpicking going on for nothing more than bragging rights, I'd log out in a heartbeat if the whining worthy of a prize took place.

The icon off setting would fix this. I know they can do that.

No they can't do that. Only short and long icon settings are currently available to CM's.

Good point Fatty

for an altitude cap.. just put AA guns at the ceiling with instant respawn if shot. The guns can be positioned anywhere, even floating in mid air.

Alt cap... yeah... what ya *can* do is create a you're-off-to-OZ wind layer up there. Pokie designed a WW map for us with walls that solved the outtabounders. I'm not keeping up with KOTH (except for flying in last Friday), but that stuff is fixable. Icons, like hblair says, are not.

For alt-grabbers and wingmen and such, I wish there were more options to us CMs other than the eject command. It's so controversial. What I'd like to be able to do is point my mouse at a plane and have it explode. And then I'd act all innocent... and ask about their connection, or perhaps suggest they buy more RAM.

"Why is KOTH not as popular here as it once was in Air Warrior?"

I never liked it in AW.... but for me it goes back to that simmers-gamer thing.  KOTH's is a game thing, and i see little point to it.

They do have an alt cap.

If you can turn off your own icons I know that it can be done.

There is a Koth??? I’ve never seen any promotions for this!!  I won’t win, but I’m game!

Just a completely unqualified suggestion: Use a very small island as the “arena” and souround it with hostile fleets. The ack should keep people from running too far. Ceiling disqualifier of perhaps 5000 ft ? The island should have rough terrain, and a small mountain for people to play with. Like I said, just ignore this completely unqualified advice. ;)

X2Lee, I guess you mean the icon adjustment is codable? I agree, HT is the codin' fool. Do it HT! :)

Amazing to me the number of these guys who read this board regularly and didn't even know there's a KOTH in Aces High. Apparently the word's not getting out there.

For those who do not know, There is a horrible wind set up at a certain altitude to keep people from climbing too high. The arena has walls around the KOTH area to keep people in the fight.
