...by Jane's Fighting Aircraft of WWII. It's alright I guess, but there are some huge gaps in the plane list. Not to mention an inconsistent methodology when it comes to plane statistics. Also, they'll lump almost all subtypes of many planes together when listing characteristics and performance even though the planes may be vastly different. For other critical planes this information is missing entirely. But what I really miss--the history--is all but non-existent.

I agree.

I use "Aircraft of WWII" by Stewart Wilson, alot. Good detail in
the specs and history, but each plane has only 1 B&W photo
accompanying the text.

Are you talking about the reprint from 1945?

If so... you can't possibly expect it to be accurate. It's more of a novelty than anything else.

Yep, that's the one. I got it at a used book store for $15. Oh well, how was I to know? I guess I never really noticed that was originally from 1945 or else it would have been more obvious to me.
