« on: October 17, 2002, 01:19:14 PM »
is there any set altitude you have to be before your seen by radar?

i know its best to fly the c47 under radar alt but i cant determine what that is or even if it works so i end up flying to enemy bases and 100ft or less

]sorry if this is in the wrong mb[

I heard 500 feet Above Ground Level, but most ppl including me fly lower than 200 feet AGL for an under-dar-raid. 'sides it doesn't really matter wether you pop from 150 feet or 500 feet once in the target area.

Particularly if you're trying to get a goon in without being noticed, if you don't have grass stains on the underside of your wings, you're flying too high.

I've gotten a couple kills in an Il-2 on the pizza map when I was sailing down a canyon and picked up someone up above the canyon who dove in on me and didn't think about where they were going to get the airspace to pull out of their dive while I was skating along trying not to scrape a wingtip on the canyon wall.

Of course, you can't expect them all to be that obligingly stupid.

You will not be seen by dar any time you fly at -8 feet altitude.
