A suggestion for a change in scoring
« on: October 18, 2002, 05:07:50 PM »
Instead of scoring 125% for a successfully landed flight, how about an addition instead? That is if your perk score is X, and X > 0, then if you successfully land, you get a bonus of Y. Y should only be 1 or 2, perhaps depending on ENY value. Say Y=+1 if ENY <=20, +2 if ENY > 20? Perhaps this is too stingy?

This would not benefit the better players significantly since 1 or 2 points would be the same or less than the +25% they would have otherwise have got, but would benefit newer players significantly, since 125% of a lot less than 1 perk point is still a lot less than 1, but +1 or +2 is a vast difference.

Fly a real plane and it's not an issue.

You don't need to be an expert pilot to do well in a high eny plane.

Do you fly an la7, try the la5.
How about a spit5?  Try the fm2.
P51D?  Try the p51B or f4u-1.

Some other great high (30+) eny planes,
Hurricane IIC
Mosquito
109F
109G2
190A(Both of em)
Ki-61
Yak-9u

Additional rewards for low eny planes is not only a bad idea, it's downright obscene.

Actually, I normally fly the Spit V, Tiffie, or Mossie. Because I'm British. The first two are medium ENY planes. I'd fly the Spit 1 but it just doesn't have the killing power.

I'm not suggesting a reward for low ENY planes, I'm suggesting a reward for successfully landing after combat.

Thanks for your comment on the planes - I will investigate - but I'd appreciate your thoughts on the scoring idea.
