Turtle Beach/WinXP/MSI KT3 problems
« on: October 18, 2002, 09:24:42 PM »
Is anyone running a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz in WinXP? I cna't even get the damn thing to install. Everytime WinXP recognizes it and starts installing it, it resets the PC and then I get BSOD on startup. Downloaded all the latest drivers, Win updates, etc. Also tried switching PCI slots and assigning different IRQs. Starting to think that I either 1) Got a bad card...or.....2)WinXP, Santa Cruz, and VIA KT333 chipset don't like each other very much. Stuck with the onboard sound for now.

I am sure you got the latest drivers for WinXP right Raub? Anyway just checking because I have not heard of any issues lately with that card and XP.

I have the exact same setup, msi kt333, brand new turtle beach santa cruz, win xp, 512 mgs of ram, and a amd xp 2000+ if I remember right.

There were problems but I think updating windows drivers, turtle beach drivers, and more importantly using the msi bios and motherboard driver utility fixed them.

You may try to use the motherboard safe defaults during install, and make sure you tell your motherboard not to run the onboard sound in the bios.  Great card otherwise.
