Film Editing?
« on: October 23, 2002, 09:58:24 PM »
Is there anyway we can shorten the length of an AH film?  For example if we wanted to show just a 10 second section out of a 5 minute film.  Is there a way to do this?  Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately the AH film editor has some HUGE limitations, and 99% of the "editing" options are not working at this time (its not HT's top priority of course).

You cannot save a portion of a film that doesnt include the begining (so you can chop off the end, but not start in the middle), because the film doenst know where to start things at (it appears to be a continuous string of data that is meaningless without the proper starting point (thats why when you jump to a section you see it FF thru the segments).

Sorry, Ive given up on it right now.

I would love to be able to edit films in it

I REALLY want the ability to use camera COMPLETELY INDEPENDANT of my aircraft (realizing of course the range limitation of the planes and the update frequency of their data if they are more than a few 1000 yards away will impose strict limitations, but will make DRAMATIC films much easier)   Basically I want the F5 view thingy they had in wild wednesday for a while (like in the terrain editor).

Ah well...I can dream

Thanks for the tip on ahfilm.  I read the help file, played around with it a bit, and "was" able to extract just a small portion of the film from a huge film file.  Both the beginning and ending were cut out and the file dropped in size from 3.6MB to 110K.  Thanks again for the help!
