I knew I was flying with a good squad (9GIAP) but:

DJ111

12:09:23 Shot Down A P-40B Piloted By 1olo.

HawkerI

12:25:49 Shot Down A P-40B Piloted By 1olo.

Umm, am I missing something? How did 1olo get back in the air? What's even worse (from my personal perspective) is:

1olo

11:55:31 Departs From Field #3 in a P-40B
12:10:52 Bravely Bailed From Damaged Plane.
12:11:30 Departs From Field #6 in a P-40B
12:24:36 Helps Shorty Shoot Down MonkGF.
12:26:49 Bravely Bailed From Damaged Plane.

He got back up again to be part of the group that chased me all the way down to the ground. I must have missed something, because several of his squadmates also relaunched in P-40s after being shot down. I thought TOD was a one-life event, so why were P-40s relaunching? Given the number of relaunches and my limited TOD experience, I'm assuming I missed something here. Was there a critical numbers imbalance?

I also liked how many guys helped Dantoo shoot down krotki. 3 people besides him got in on the action ;)

Heh,

Funny that hey Greg!  I had not missed those rather obvious "reups" either.

From time to time squad CO's have problems "containing and controlling" their charges.  I accept that this is a reality that we have to live with.  There is bound to be a rogue from time to time.  I wouldn't like to see a brawl erupt and a squad receive a bad name because of a "one off" by a member out of control.

What needs to happen is for a process of "smoothing" of the results, to remove as much as possible, the effect of these rule-breakers.  It needs to be made clear (publicised) that the results have been amended in these cases.  It doesn't make up for the bad game experience of their direct "victims."  Of course everybody becomes a victim to some degree when the rules are broken deliberately.

It's best if squad CO's are left to deal with the individuals involved and that the CO post appropriate apologies as necessary.  Of course if this doesn't happen, then it's clearly the responsibility of the CM's to step in.
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

For crying outloud, they were flying p40-b's... sheesh if anything they did worse for the Allies by rolling again, to probably be shot down again, and give the Axis more points.

Guys, things are bound to happen that we can not expect, no need to dwel on them, over all TOD's have been a fun experience, lets not kill it with a massive ball of flames.

There is a 15 minute re-up window to, take care of those who disco or who have problems taking off. If for some reason your squad is jumped, before those 15min, thats one hell of a quick strike, what fun is it to participate in an event that usually runs 45-80 minutes, to be shot down in the first 10? But of course I do understand that those who will encounter them later probably won't be as happy, if they are shot down by that pilot who got a "second" life.

To avoid this, just don't kill anyone before they're allowed to re-up, or if not people try and be respectful and not re-up if they are shot down before the 15 min.

BlckMgk

*** EDIT ***
Thought you guys were referring to the Friday TOD, where the Axis had 190a5/a8 and 109f4 vs a p40B this would be a slaughter. Sorry, but I guess my last comment still pertains :p

BlckMgk sorry but it is a legit complaint he has made here.  He is somebody that got shot down by one of those that reupped.  The reup window was supposed to be for disco's.  Now it is to be used to get up again after you're shot down?  He had to sit out the next 1 hour 40 mins because of a foul instead of the guy that should have done so.

Sorry, but that behaviour is against the rules and blatantly so.  It isn't a matter of simply being respectful.  Squads have to do their best to have their pilots comply with the rules.  We will always have one or two that are difficult to control and it's best if the squads are given the opportunity to bring them into line without having their reputation destroyed or wild accusations and flame wars ruining the play for all.  Even worse would be a squad being punished for a one-off.  I guess if it was persistent then the CM's might feel the need.

My concern is for the "victims" of the behaviour (I guess we all are to some degree).  I am for a measure of redress for those who lose out directly by the actions of these guys.  Have the kill quashed for a start.  One of the objectives of TOD is to stay alive.  Robbing somebody of this "victory" can't be rewarded.

Gents,
Please accept my appologies about that re-ups. My guys thought that when side CO ordered C47 pilots to reup they can reup as well :(
I will post here, what i've posted on the CM board some time ago.
I hope it won't happened again and i'm really sorry that happened before!

"I'm sorry that i need to inform you about 2 accidents (i know about) of using 2nd life by my squaddies on this last Sunday TOD
This guys are fresh here... i infirmed them that TOD's are 1 life events but looks like they forgot... they said that were asking on the Sqn chl, but we were fighting and i missed it...

We are ready to take a penalty and i'm personally very sorry that happened.

and as CO of Allies for that frame, I'll extend my apologies.
We  had to get the fields open for C47 replaning per the rules.
At that moment, we started taking casualties.  At the same time, there were discos coming up.  So suddenly we get all these fighters taking off.  I was yelling on channel 2, and we managed to get most of them down (check the logs, and you'll see most of those vampires got down).  Unfortunately, we didn't get all them before they got into the fight; those we spotted after the fact were immediately identified to the CM corps.  We do our best, and sometimes we have transgressions.  Most of these are quietly and equitably resolved without stink on the boards.
