I answer every email I get, unless there is a virus attached to it. If you are being switched to TCP, it is usually associated with your connection or some problem between you and the servers.
On a 56K connection, your uplink speed from your computer (which you cannot see without talking directly to the modem and asking it what speed it is running at FROM your computer) can be so low as to cause a switch to TCP, and can cause voice to stop.
Generallly speaking, if you set your connection to a maximum of 33.6K, it will assure your uplink speed to be close to 28.8K, which is ample for AH.
Also, using DXDIAG, make sure your sound cards hardware acceleration is set to 3/4, not full.
Just because you make no changes in your local system does not mean changes have not taken place. If you are running XP or W2K and have not disabled the automatic updater, your computer can change without your knowledge.
That same utility will cause problems with your connection. For XP/W2K, you have to go into the Services control panel to disable it and the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service".
Other emails I toss into the trash are ones with no subject line (spam), or those with irrelevant subject lines (i.e. See your Momma on the Internet!....).
The Internet has had some serious problems with DOS attacks over the last couple of weeks. We cannot control those problems and they can and will effect the quality of the connection to the servers.
Thankfully, these usually do not last too long, but they have been happening with greater regularity.
Also note, I usually will not respond to flames directed at us on the bulletin board. The only reason I am responding here is as I remember the email I did get from you and wanted you to know I have not received another one.
