Bishes hammered...

Night #2 of 1st/AG operations went mighty poorly.. we got sliced to ribbons by both the knits and rooks.

On the first raid; we filled out well enuff with buff pilots, but could not muster the escorts to cover the goons and buffs.. and we were chopped to pieces trying to cap the target. Again, we were able to destroy the target.. but without fighter caps fer the goons, the end was writ large in our blood.

I should note that we had an 8 year old flying escort and first relief goon. The only field captured on this raid was the one he got.

Later on we ran a "home island" relief raid, trying to pry A11 outta rook hands.. again; not enough bishes left on-line interested in arriving on the objective as a team... by dribs and drabs; pilots set out for A11 as a mob.. and the mission left hugely understaffed. We didn't even have enuff buffs to get the hangers closed.

Thu this all; the knight machine was just knockin down fields, one after another, like dominoes. The rooks; less organised; but still outnumbering us did the same in the north.. and we never did manage to gain the initiative so desperately needed to turn it around.

Thanks fer tryin; you guys that flew. We gotta bloody nose, and I'm sure we'll get plenty more till the core squads numbers get up to a point where the crital slots in every raid are manned by pro's.

Bish squads.. give some thought to sending a few of your numbers to help staff these raids even if yer 'busy' doing something else at the time.. (most do) We gotta keep the goons escorted and the airspace over the target capped  or we'll be sittin in the bucket getting pounded from 2 sides every night.

Nash asked me as the fields were falling at a rate of 1 every 15 minutes.. "Hey Hang.. u got anything called "Fast Defense??"

I heard somewhere that the best defense is a good offense. To getta a good offense; we gotta get the mission's flights staffed with pro's that can fly the profile.

<S!> all.. we try again tonight.

To think I was in the Training Arena helping newbies while my countrymen were waging war just one click away, dang it!

Might this have been one of the "1 per 15 mins?"

Fast strike offense is a good idea, but won't work if no one is left to defend existing territory.  Found myself defending 4 solo while the strike was in progress. Not complaining, mind you, got 15 kills of vehicles streaming in from 3 (<S> armor drivers from 3) flying heavy hog out of 4 and 5. Also, strike was a bit too far into enemy territory. Gives enema plenty of time to assess where the mob's coming from and heading to.

Yeah Hang,

Would have been a reset if not for the fiasco at 11. Two of our TGs were there for 30 min - I couldn't figure out why we were coverging on a field we owned with all of our airpower.

Some great furballs on the Western front though. I got my wingtip shot off my a Spitfire while we were vainly trying to capture 24 and I nursed that sucker all the way to 49. (48 had somehow been captured) After landing, I nosed into the ground and ended up being vertical for a while. Then Cave and eddiek rtbed while a lone knit F4U kamikazed into our hanger.

I remember that huge mob heading towards 11 last night.  Popped me a B17 and a couple of fighters in the area fore lookin good at the map seeing the squeeze being applied and to the NW to fight the nits

But as I recall, the bish outnumbered the rooks by 10-15 or so (about 10 of us were in the NW though =).  I checked the #s before heading up to p55

I like to get hammered as a Bish.

I find that a tall glass with 4 ice cubes and then filled with Macallan will usually  put me in the zone.

Failing that, a 12-pack of good Pale Ale is a nice cockpit accessory.
