It's French, translated in English.
It explains all the markings found on Me109s, from rank/groups/kills/placards.
The book is mainly profiles views (location/date/pilot) 80% of the pages.

I'm looking foward for other editions ... maybe P47s :D

Having both volumes on the 109 (second part has been published a few days ago) i can't say i'm satisfied with it. The Jagdwaffe series being a much better choice when it comes to color research.
Moreover the technical details about the various versions are unfortunately pretty wrong.
The warpaint special volume 2 did a better job if not perfect.
I recommand this link for a detailled analysis of this book by real expert in the field : http://disc.server.com/discussion.cgi?id=154196;article=4851

Regarding the Br 693, i think you refer to "Le Sacrifice" book, which you can order here, directly from the French IPMS : http://www.ifrance.com/ipms-france/produits.htm
I highly recommand it, it's a very well researched book.

Great thank you for the info, saved me a mistake there (maybe)
-----------------------------------------------------
the ones they recomand :
-----------------------------------------------------

1) Any of the Jagdwaffe Series, written by Eric Mombeek, from Classic Publications. You can view the covers at http://www.greatmodels.com (select "Search Bookstore" These not only have excellent and accurate profiles, they are loaded with informative text and photos. So far there are volumes that cover everything from the early days of the Jagdwaffe, Spanish Civil War, Poland, Phoney War, Blitzkreig, and Battle of Britain so lots of Emil info there.

2) I've heard that many of the publications coming out of eastern Europe are excellent but I haven't purchased any of them yet because I hate sifting through text I don't understand, and I have other shopping priorities. Perhaps a collector of those titles will chime in with some good info.

3) The Osprey Aircraft of the Aces Series, for all the flak they catch, actually did a fairly decent job on their books on their 'Bf109E Aces from 1939-41' and 'Bf109 Aces of North Africa and the Mediterranean'. At under $20 it would be far better to get these titles than the Histoire Collection book you had asked about.

Now, from the more expensive shelves...

4) The two books by Claes Sundin, "Luftwaffe Aircraft in Profile" and "More Luftwaffe Aircraft in Profile" are loaded with great profiles and pilot info, although not all of them are Emils.

5) Lots of guys swear by the Bernd Barbas books, "Aircraft of the Luftwaffe Fighter Aces, Vol. I & II" although you may find the cost a little steep. I haven't bought those either because at the time they hit the shelves I was frantically collecting pilot memoirs and unit histories.

6) Griehl did a book on all the variants from B thru E which has some excellent information & illustrations, mainly technical in nature. Profiles are in black & white.

7) Werner Held's "Luftwaffe in the North African Campaign" and "Dayfighters" both have some fantastic Emil photos, although they are not captioned from a modeler's perspective.
