Aircraft Kill to Death Ratios from Libya:
« on: October 28, 2002, 04:28:32 PM »
I love statistics, what can I say?  With such a small plane-set last week, I thought if would be simple to dig up some stats.  Here’s how the planes stacked up against each other, starting with each plane type’s K/D: followed by K/D: against each enemy fighter in ( ).

Axis
MC202   -  1.22    -  ( 1.15 vs. P-40,  1.37 vs. Hurri)
109E  -   .88    -  ( .73 vs. P-40,  1.01 vs. Hurri)
110C   -  .78   -   ( .44 vs. P-40,  1.23 vs. Hurri)
JU-88  -   .44   -   ( .26 vs. P-40,  .86 vs. Hurri)

Allies
P-40E  -  1.24  -   ( .87 vs. MC202,  1.36 vs. 109E,  2.26 vs. 110C)
Hirri-I  -  .88  -   ( .73 vs. MC202,  .99 vs. 109E,  .81 vs. 110C)
Bostin III  -  -  .15  -   ( .15 vs. MC202,  11 vs. 109E,  .18 vs. 110C)

I found it interesting that the 202 had the only + K/D against all enemy AC in this plane-set.  Even though its overall K/D was the same as the P-40, it slightly bested it when 1 on 1.

The 110 held its own against the Hurri (due to its better speed), but the P-40s ate up 110 due to the P-40s out-performing 110s in nearly all respects.

The 109E apeared to be a perfect match for the Hurri-I, but was regularly clobbered by the P-40.  I think the 109F would be a better match to the P-40 (not saying the 109F belonged in this set-up).

The Ju-88 K/D was 3X of that of the Boston III,  I haven't flown it, but I'm guessing the Boston's guns are nearly worthless?

The 202 v. P40 was one of the best match-ups we've ever had in CT, IMHO.

I think the 109F would be a better match to the P-40 (not saying the 109F belonged in this set-up).

Really?  I think the Franz will slaughter the P-40.  Who knows, though, we've never tried it.

Interesting stuff, that was a fun CT to fly in.

that setup should have had the p40b. But with the only other axis plane being the hurri 1 we decided on the p40e. It was that or add the hizooka armed hurri IIc. That would have ended the axis ground war (it also carries 2 x 500lbs bombs).

I had original thought the we would include the 109f-4 in this setup. But even facing the p40b we felt it best to avoid the inevitable planeset whines  and not include the 109f-4.

The 202/p40e was a pretty good match. Gun advantage p40 performance advantage the 202.

The last set up all the final descision were made by brady, it was his setup. I think he did one hell of a job sticking to his original idea. It turns out that it was pretty balanced overall.

S! Brady :)

eskimo the boston is faster but has no ventral gun. Stay slightly below 6 o'clock its like shooting the offline ai.

If the 202 were gone, and the p40b was in there instead of the p40e it probably would have been perfectly balanced, but not historical.  If the 109f were in there along with the 202 it would have been the historical blood bath is was.  Tough call.  Maybe next time we should do the p40b minus the 202 and see what happens.  Course only 109 and 110 may be kinda boring for the lw, but the bob draws a crowd....
