I offer the following for your consideration.  The only people that should have the right to vote should be those who have a stake in America.  That stake would include those that own land such as a home or farm and those that have served in America’s military.  I can see no reason why anyone outside this group should have a “right” they are unwilling to commit to or defend.  And as they demonstrate election after election even when they have the right they refuse to exercise it.

That is an EXCELLENT idea!!

Even John Allen Muhammad would be able to vote!

Doesn't Australia have a compulsory election? Have to ask them if the ignorant vote in groups or if they tend to cancel each other out.

True voting is compulsary here... that way you can't complain about who gets voted in can you!

I'd say a some vote the along party lines...There are plenty of 'safe' seats (ie. areas that will have heavy support of a particular party) but plenty of seats have marginal support and often change. People will vote an independant or minor party to show their disatisfaction with the performance of a major party or simply vote for the opposing party contesting the seat.

The real problem with voting is that, it doesn't really matter who gets elected.  Whoever you elect, the outcome is going to be similar.  Sure some details might be changed, some differences will happen, but it's all irrelavent.

It's those who contribute large sums of money to politics that are in control, they simply allow politicians to buy votes, in exchange for favors.

In a true democracy, voting would be important, but in our current system, whats going to happen is going to happen regardless of who you vote for.

Iraq had compulsory voting and had a 100% turnout!  No dimpled chads either! Let's adopt their system...
