Slugish Joystick
« on: October 31, 2002, 03:47:58 PM »
I just recently, reformated my hard drive (much needed), and reloaded all my programs, including updates. Since I've done so my MS Sidewinder while in Aces High seems to be very "Slugish", It seems that all actions/inputs I make are delayed maybe 1-2 seconds, Very evident when I try firing in bursts on an enemy. Never happened before.

I used to love flying with my Sidewinder, rather than my x45, because it was so responsive, even though it lacked all the extra buttons. I've looked for the latest MS Sidewinder drivers, and I've updated, No difference. Is this Direct X related?

I was wondering, if there was a new default setup for the Latest AH that does this? i.e. Dampening/Deadbands. My AH before the wipe, was an older version 1.08 maybe later??, just patched to current version. Since I downloaded the "Updated .Exe" Changes I noticed also include no more "walking" between towers/runway/maproom/hanger, is this a setting also, or a fix?

Thanks

the "walking" is still part of the setup/gui....

have you tried reinstalling DX?  that's usually a culprit and a good first step to try... especially if you've recently (re)installed a joystick.

Re-installed, and it is the same.

Sluggish responses start to happen as I approach an enemy. Every input is delayed.

Might be a graphical problem some how, might be a setting I enabled this time, I didn't have last time...

They say a pic says a thousand words . I was in the control panel , mutimedia , bah bah .

Also defrag your harddrive asap , do it when you go to bed , scandisk first though , make sure the box that fixes all the problem spots is checked first .

Had sort of the same problem with the Microsoft Sidwinder... I would use the joystick for 2 months and it would be ready for the can.  But it didnt feel sluggish.. It didnt have any tension to it after the 2 months.  After 5 MS Sidewinder joysticks i finnaly got a
TM Fox and its been pretty good.

I could never fix the MS stick whatever i tried, and it doesnt have any Pots either :(
