First off let me prefix this whine with "yes it just shot me down"
Under normal circumstances I wouldnt give it much thought that the CV flak killed me and just grab a new plane and head back to the fight. However, when it's seemingly radar guided through a cloud layer then it bugs me. I am by no means a world class historian, I do not know whether or not if the flak guns in this time period were radar guided. This is why it bugs me, does anyone know if they were? I'd like to know. There does seem to be an argument against flak in either case.
If they were radar assisted, why arent they more accurate? To most of us flying within the Flak umbrella doesn't raise a serious possibility of death, unless it's manned anyway.
If they weren't radar assisted, why does it shoot through the cloud layer? Even in the case of going by engine sounds overhead it would just be a waste of ammunition on the part of the deck gunner.
No, I was not in a 'straight & level' bomber, I was in a maneuvering F4U-1

What else?!
Ohwell, I feel better, but the question remains.
Pardon me if this topic has already been covered, I'm sure it has and I missed it.
