Mag33 lifted in P40E's
Tagged along with Bikekil as ordered, tangled with a bunch of A6m's got dragged to deck zekes were thinning out when we were bounced by KI61's.

P40E's v KI61 do not mix well, we all died extremely quickly and as far as i know we had no kills.

If we have to continue fighting KI61's in P40E let me know in advance i will try to find something better to do.

LOL, do I detect a slight whine??  You expect to win every TOD?  just ribbing ya. ;)

56th FG took off with 9 A6M2s and ran into a huge group of P-40s, probably 2 or 3 squads south of A1 at 20k.  P-40s were all over us.  We tried hard to keep the P-40s off our bombers, but all but one of our guys was killed.  We maybe killed 2 or 3 P-40s.

Was a short TOD for us, but it was a hell of a fight, and a lotta fun.  A6Ms vs P-40s is fun, no matter which side you fly.   to all todays participants.

What do you mean you were dragged to the deck?  Did they attach steel wire to your p40s and haul you down kickin and screamin?

Don't ya really mean that ya saw some low zekes dived in for a few easy kills, then realised you'd been set up?  Sounds to me like you were well set up. Mebbe even unintentionally.

BTW had a blast flying with you guys in madway (no that's not a typo).  You guys seemed to do a damn fine job

You are mistaken Cav, you and 3/4 of your squad were shot down by A6M2s, a plane which your P-40Es outclassed in virtually every department.

Ughh, try P-40B. I would have given anything to have an E model in that one. Try attacking Ki-67s in a B. Oh well, twas a single frame. Till we meet again...

332 Vikings upped in 8 a6m5 and 3-4 a6m2 (dont remember exact numbers) and we were doing a fighter sweep inb A1 from the S at 20k, when near A1 we encountered a group of higher Spits and another sqaud to with unidentifed planes.

So we "extended" to our base A11 and draged them down to the deck and a fairsome battle occured some spits were downed and we lost some zekes there to, and when the remaining spits ran away we see that another battle was going on just NW of us, S of A1 we engaged in this battle to.

Exept for Selector and me we gained some alt and went around the fight to come in from the N when we meet up with a lone P-40
when he saw our red icons he dived away and ran home screaming like a little girl....after he flew over V29 we turned back so we dident get killed by his ack.

When we were on the way back to A1 we saw some higher formations of bombers, it turned out to be Bostons we tryied to gain some alt on them and we harrased them when they were going down for refueling at A14 we just got some of them smoking when Selector was out of ammo and we were low on gas to

So we decided to go back to A11 to refuel we reported over radio to the other two remaining Vikings , EasyKill and Plumbob to go to A14 and kill those Bostons.

Halfway to A11 we meet EasyKill and Plumbob when we where refuling Plumbob reporded several Bostons downed.

When refueling was done I turned on to the rnw and was going to wait for Selector when I hit the brakes and **WHAAAMM** blody thing tipped the prop in the ground, well engine gone,  so I had to leave and Selector took off alone, I heard Plumbob had a bad fuel leak and had to ditch dont know what happend to Selector and EasyKill after that.

A big Salute to every one participating in this TOD!!
Really good fun

I wish.  When I looked back it was a white paper airplane that killed me.  Had a SA failure, because I didn't see that one sneaking up on me.  Saw the other five or six before him, though  :D

Unfortunately, I think I shorted my fighter pilots abit.  I wanted to do something a bit different, instead of running completely jabo.  I was given no restrictions as far as percentages of planes/bombers, so that was a thought.

However, instead, I decided to up approximately 50% of my force in Bostons.  I had my fighters perform CAP over allied bases while the bostons gained alt on the west side of the map.  Once the bostons reached a pre-determined point, I ordered the fighters into the hostile cap zone.

Just before reaching our target area, we encountered resistance in the form of approximately 6 zekes.  they attacked, and several bombers were downed.  Our formation (which was very loose, poor judgement on my part) was scattered into the wind, and everybody made their own way home.

Upon refueling, the remnants of the bombers struck V31 and A10 again, then refueled and made one last strike.  I had lost my entire fighter force by the time the second strike was over.

to all was a fun frame, and a big thanks to all participants, especially the allies who fought hard to the last man.

Gremlin you are speculating and incorrectly.
I told my flight to engage 20k a6m's and to NOT turn but to blow through before coming back at them, unfortunately some of us were either to low or slow or unwilling to do this.
Now i see the KI67 flight passing below me and order to attack them not the A6m's, I check and see wingy trying to do this but the rest were getting tangled with A6m,s.
Now as much as i wanted to kill the Buffs as i still had alt, I had a choice abandon the flight getting tangled below with the A6m's or kill buffs.
I told the guys to help each other and went down to assist as well, now at this point i get the dreaded switch to tcp and after warning the squad i could get dumped much to my surprise was still connected but getting major warps on all aircraft no chance at all of hitting anything.
Got a 6 call from a squaddie an A6M had warped onto my 6 and i never saw it, took a few hits but no damage before i evaded him.
Reversed into the fight to see my remaining 2 squaddies getting ripped apart by at least 6 KI61 that had just arrived, went straight at them hoping to help but last one went down while i was still 1.5 to 2.0k out, took stock of situation crap load of KI61 and an A6m started after me, thats not good.
Tried to run for base hoping to survive to fight on my terms later.
Some broke off but last time i checked had at least 2 KI61 in sight coalt (on the deck) and a higher A6m trailing after me.
No way i could try to fight that its as bad as an LA7 / Spit tag team.
Anyway KI61 caught me like an express train and his cannons ripped the crap outa me removing my left wing just as i began to think i might make the field.

So Gremlin thats what i mean by being unwillingly dragged low, killing fighters means nothing and has no value in scenarios until the buffs have been dealt with, unfortunately not everybody seems to agree.
And no i was not setup as i never wanted to be fighting zekes low when buffs were flying on by.

Unfortunatel many guys still play the Tod's with an MA mentality meaning they have to engage the first enemy they see without thinking at all.

Grayarea you are incorrect, my squad only consisted of 4 aircraft at least 2 of us were ripped apart by the KI61 and i believe a third was as well, personally i was killed by a KI61 no doubt about it. He chased me down no A6m was anywhere in guns range. If an A6m ends up with the credit for it then it does not deserve it, I may have taken a few pings from an A6 minutes ealier but had NO damage from it.
I also believe Grayarea you are saying we are crap cos we were killed by the A6m which is outclassed by the P40 in all departments.
We must be the worst scoring squad ever to play scenarios then.
However out of a pile of P40's that seem to have been killed there, its worth noting 3 of our squad were the last ones flying.

Do you really think I am making this up Cav?

The logs show that A6m2s shot down 3 of the 4 planes in your squad the last one was shot down by a Ki-61.

Hey Cav,

I don't think any one is suggesting for one second that your squad is anything but a fine outfit.  I for one have the utmost respect for you and your squaddies.  I remember having some damn fine fights with you personally.  Just you said  and I quote;

"Anyway KI61 caught me like an express train and his cannons ripped the crap outa me removing my left wing"

The logs clearly show you were killed by oblittoo in his zeke. check em In the thread I just posted. I suggest that the zeke damaged you a little more than you thought and the ki61 just finished the job.  Anytime I get jumped by LA7s and such in the MA I just shrug my shoulders and try to remember not to get myself into that situation again (and guess what i usually do get into that situation again:)

All I am saying is this time it didnt work out for you guys, thats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Yup i appreciate the A6m may have been given the awards  but as i also said they may have peppered us but (in my case i checked) i had no damage showing at all.
However we have all seen it many times where the plane that gets awarded the kill can be miles away when you actually die.
As i said earlier the A6m may have got the kill award but the KI61 deserved it he finished me and  caused all the damage.
So what deserves the kill more, being peppered with a lot of A6m machine guns that register no damage at all (when checked in damage display) or being ripped apart by a few solid cannon shells.
In this case it seems to be a case of the more hits landed gets the kill rather than the most damage caused.
And i was the last one shot down Grayarea all the others were already down before i tried to escape.

Not that it really matters at all, and to be honest i cant believe i have wasted time trying to explain this.

So to save anybody else the trouble i will depart calling myself a no nothing whiner.
