Insect born diseases? typhus, typhoid, malaria, lots of SKEETERS over there and they will carry any kind of virus and every kind you can think of, Seriously just make sure you use the netting at night and use DEET you'll be OK.

try to avoid walking around alone at night in cities as apparently attacks on westerners are escellating in many countries, especially muslim countries. Places like Kenya are really bad at the moment.

Basically its muggings etc and the people are not hurt but its still a very scarey experience.

Let me give you a piece of advice, while travelling keep 2 wallets.

One wallet is your main wallet with the most money in it and the other is your 'muggers wallet' with a bit of money in it that wont hurt too much to lose.Some one jumps you you give em the muggers wallet with no questions asked.Let the fool take it

and you can go spend your cash in a bar to calm yourself

I dont mean to worry you or anything but be prepared maniac and be sensible and im sure you will have a fantastic time out there.Most vietnamese are incredibly friendly and im sure you'll be very glad you went.

The Phillipines Maniac I been to both.

There's a really cool little island of the coast of Thiland call Ko samoi bout 60 miles off the coast.. Very nice indeed. May be the inspiration for "The Beach"... it's kinda hippy island ya' know.

Careful with being drunk in public of if anyone offers you drugs You don't even want to think how narly the police can be there.

You have any money?.. Go shopping for gold coins.. get good deals there.

edit: Camo I have a pair of shorts like that.. if it gets cold you can make em long pants.

I am also traveling to Thailand again this year. Last 2 weeks of January. Last year i got hooked and i love it there. So much so, ive been going through the real estate adds in Pattaya and am considering opening up a bar.

So if ya in Pattaya at all, drop me eamil, we can hook up for a few beer:)
