Thanks. :)

I use Panicware's Pop-up Stopper.  It's free.  http://www.panicware.com

Netscape 7.0 has it built in, as does Mozilla.

You have to disable pop-ups, which is an option in Netscape 7.0.

Hblair, if you have popups opening before you open a browser window, what you're looking for is that AD Aware soft (link somewhere here above).

You don't even have to surf porn anymore to get those... every site seems to use them nowadays, bleh...

I wonder who looks/clicks on these. It must be working if there are so many...

It's just like junk mail... some people ACTUALLY respond or are interested in that crap.  The organizations behind the advertising are happy with as much as a 1% return.  What a waste of energy

you dont any of that stuff you can edit your windows Hosts file to block most of those addies.

As a matter of fact you download a "Hosts" file that has almost all those ips so they will knock out 99% of the pop ups.

Do a google search. I lost the addy for the site. I am sure some else will post it.

Go with pop-up stopper, like Superfly said.  Works great, and you can override it by holding down the CTRL key if you are manually opening a second browser window.

Norton Internet Security 2003 (6.0) has blocks pop-ups, normal ads, ads based on size (eg, banner ad sizes) and also blocks those shockwave based ads that take over your browser for 10-20 seconds on pages like Wired and MSNBC.
