Based on the line at our school (polling place) it looks like the turnout will be better than predicted.

voting went quick, though it sounded like a video game

I voted in Broward County Florida - new touch screen is very smooth process, seems idiot proof, but you never know.

Figuring out the issues is another matter. One question was whether to vote YES or NO on a law to prohibit "penning a pregnant pig." (I figured farmers can handle that issue without a new law being passed)

Note: Broward County Supervisor of Elections, Miriam Oliphant (liberal b/f democrat), who was severely critisized for incompetance recently, was caught red handed at a McBride-For-Governor rally the other day, which is strictly prohibited in her position. Word is, she will be fired soon after the election.

got to vote in the garage of an old victorian mansion which suspiciously was at the top of a particularly nasty hill - despite needing shirpa guides and llamas to get to my polling place at least we had a little open rebellion on the ballot:

proposition S - shall it be city(san francisco) policy to consider growing and distributing medical marijuana for medical use?

oh yeah and something about taxes or something.........

was at my poll at 0700 this morning. I was the 17th person to vote in my precinct. We have little sheets (well, legal size sheets) where you fill in the arrows and then run it through a machine. The machine has a digital counter for the number of ballots run through, so that's how I know I was 17th.

NW Florida doesn't get any money so we can't have new fangled touch screens.

Heh, the pig amendment has had us laughing here for weeks.

one more thing- not only was our poling place difficult to get to but get this- the power was off to that whole part of town!

turns out they had a plan for just such an occasion and the auxillary ballot box was busted out - even in these conditions there was a line 4 or 5 deep waiting for their turn and this was first thing in the morning.

on top of that the people working the place were filipino and couldn't understand my name even in phoenics mode - thankfully i have all my fingers and could point it out from a list-

you don't need fancy machines - just a committed bunch of voters that knows how to work a magic marker.
