Amazing!
« on: November 05, 2002, 09:23:52 AM »
8:43 am central time:

Fox reports glitches with new voting machines in Florida.  They have moved to the paper ballot already.

I wonder if anyone is really shocked or dumbfounded?

Now I wonder how long it will be before fraud is detected?

Where's Jimmy Carter when ya need him?  Florida has become a 3rd world nation and should be treated as such.

hehe

Bush must have REALLY pulled out in front :)

doesn't surprise me

seeing them for the first time this morning, all daisey chained together, little suitcases they were, they seemed alittle flakey looking

then activating them, it sounded like Space Invaders

we just can't have an election that is honest and trouble free unless the demacrats are winning

the problem is with Florida Dumbacrats - they can't stand to lose - so they try to win by hook or crook - period.

can't we just nuke Florida?

they grow oranges elsewhere so it's not like we wouldn't have them, and old people apparently are reproducing so we wouldn't run out of those.

just cut FL off and set it adrift.  it screws up the whole shape of the SE coast anyway.

OZkansas: Florida has become a 3rd world nation and should be treated as such.
Elderly, dumb, indecisive, flooded with illiterate immigrants? That's typical 1st world nowdays.

Reporting no problems here in NW Florida with voting!  :)

I think it's just a few bastard counties down in South Florida...  Oh well, we're more like Alabama up here than Florida.  (who would have ever thought we'd be HAPPY to say that???)  :D

Like I said before, Florida should be put on probation.  For the next 4 years, their federal election results do not count.  If they can do decent elections for 4 years, we let them "back in the jungle" and their votes count.

what IS the average education level in Florida?

not joking, curious.

one of the amendments was for free pre-kindergarden for 4 years ... read FREE DAYCARE

I read recently, if I read it correctly - I am a FL native :) -  a whopping 68% of seniors graduated from HS last year .. makes you wonder what the other 32% are going to do for a living.

As for our voting problems, just fence off little cuba ie Broward County

Shouldn't surprise you that much, given the national average is around 70%.

Zip back 25 years to the late '70's... did we have dropouts then? You betcha. Zip back 25 more years. Dropouts then? You betcha. Difference is back then there were factory jobs to go to. No more.

I'm not so old I can't remember numerous faces that started high school with me that didn't share the stage on the final night of senior year. Back then it was the student's responsibility to get work done or face the consequences, and if the student couldn't hack it, out they went. But just for jollies... ask your grandparents how many of them graduated, or for that matter, how many of their friends graduated high school. Where I live it was a really, really big deal for people during my grandparents' time.

I guess I'm saying the view of graduation rate has changed (that is, the public perception of its importance), but if anything we graduate a higher percentage of students now than we ever did... and I'm not sure it is a good thing (the way we have accomplished it).

Don't relocate Epcot, just sell Florida to Disney, and let M. Eisner the mouse run it.  A state government that makes a profit... :p
