You seem to forget that politicians, whether Dems or Reps, tend to handle alla that other nasty pedestrian businesspretty much  the same way. They're all crooked and they'll all lie.

Like I said though, if one or two of the less Constitutionally oriented judges decide the time has come to quit I will be smiling. You bet, eh hoser?

I just don't think they will as our dear brother Mr. Gates pointed out.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

"Well, regardless if any of the appointees sail through or have to run a guantlet of spitballs, they're gonna get through."

The Republicans don't have the majority necessary to stop a fillibuster.  So, if the Democrats REALLY dislike a nominee, they can prevent a confirmation vote, albeit at a huge political cost.

Because now "conservative"  feebs no longer have any liberal left  boogeyman to hide behind or blame when things don't go their way.

Better start thinking of new excuses, the old ones just lost any validity they might have had.

I'll bet lying Ari Fleischer is sweating bullets thinking about the future whoppers he's going to have to come up with.

I could probably make a fortune if I packaged poop in a shiny wrapper and called it a "conservative" candy bar.  :D

The Reagan/Bush years prove beyond a doubt some of you guys will swallow anything the so called conservative politicians feed you....you have so far.

Like a dog to his vomit, so returns a fool to his folly.

I wonder which descriptive buzzword the "conservative" swine in Washington will appropriate when the shine wears off the current term......and how many fools will still believe in them afterwards?

Assuming everything you state is true, explain Tuesday's elections. What was America trying to say? What are you saying about America?

Were the voters hypnotized by the lies of Bush et al?

Do you really believe claims of thugs barring blacks from voting?

Do you have no faith in the ability of people to vote for themselves?

Back in '92 and '96 I was sorely disappointed in America's choice, but it was clear it was America's choice. Now in 2002 I am again surprised at the results of an election, but I have to acknowledge this is what people wanted. It wasn't an Ari Fleischer lie that did it, either.

1. It was the Dems running to  NJ court to bend election law (again)
2. It was Tom Daschle making an ill-advised orchestrated attack on Bush which turned disastrously awry when it became painfully obvious to even the most gullible voter that Daschle was acting wrecklessly irresponsibly on an issue he hadn't bothered to inform himself about
3. It was the Democratic rally/fundraiser/memorial service that really illuminated the true nature of the Democratic leadership in Minnesota
4. It was a DNC that failed in any material way to distance itself from the moderate-conservative agenda. The DNC was lead around, they couldn't seem to lead anywhere.
5. The perception the Dems were dragging their feet on homeland security and appointees
6. The inability of Dems to attack Repubs on corporate misconduct, mainly because the Dems were in just as deep

That's off the top of my head, but I could add a lot more if I really cared to try.

well put - the conservative support for the bush crew is as surprising as the liberal support for that scumbag clinton - i guess they're so happy to be rid of billc that that they're willing to support anything else.
to put it metaphoricly: they're happy eating horseshi+ because its not dogtoejam.

I'm saying it doesn't matter which party people vote for...nothing will change as far as government goes....as theres not a damn bit of difference between the two.

Were the voters hypnotized by the lies of Bush et al?

Some people seem to be.

Do you really believe claims of thugs barring blacks from voting?

Not aware of this, must have been reported by Faux News?

Do you have no faith in the ability of people to vote for themselves?

I have no faith in the swine either party chooses as candidates.

Back in '92 and '96 I was sorely disappointed in America's choice, but it was clear it was America's choice. Now in 2002 I am again surprised at the results of an election, but I have to acknowledge this is what people wanted. It wasn't an Ari Fleischer lie that did it, either.

Your in for another disappointment if you believe any substantial difference will result with the present change in the governments make up.

I especially like number 6, you illustrate my opinion very well, and admit theres no difference between the two.

It's time to kick both of the political potatos out of Washington.

First act of the new GOP dynasty:

Outlaw and deport Hillary Clinton!

New motto of the GOP dynasty:

All your elected positions are belong to us!

Now, maybe all my salary will not be taken in taxes to support the liberal causes.  No longer will we provide financial incentive to women to live on welfare and continue to reproduce without any viable means of financial support (other than suck my salary away in taxes).

Let us not repeat the Mariel boat lift, lets not fail to act positively towards those who would do us harm.

Honestly no, I don't expect a great deal of difference. Status quo for the most part. I have already stated the Repubs face a very real possibility of reversal of fortune next round, because while the perception of control is there, the reality of it isn't to the degree to make sweeping change that people may expect from such a perception. Then again, maybe the middle is the best place to be, and right now that is what wins in America. If so, the Dems will have to be more middle to win next time. Can't say I know how to do that.

In reality I was reacting to your comments concerning "Republican excuses". If a divided and heavily partisan Congress isn't a good excuse for not passing legislation, what is? The needle has moved almost imperceptibly right- is it enough? What can really be accomplished on such a slim majority? Only time will tell.

I disagree with your viewpoint. To create what the public views as useless bureaucratic government entities would be a sure way to lose the next election.

ONLY in respect to national security will they expand (homeland security)..can't blame them there..we've been far to soft on our borders and who we let in, 9/11 woke us up.
