Is that the original handle on the hellcat stick?

My thoughts excactly! Looks more like the stick from an F4 Phantom II.

Not 100% sure. I'll ask the Volunteer who was actually an F6F pilot when I see him on Sunday.

I'm sure we have an expert in here that could get us an answer though. It looks awefully modern.

Yeah, more accurate cockpits would be nice.  I flew some in Fighter Ace III and the cockpits look closer to the real thing than AH or Warbirds does.  I still like AH better though, the flight models, the community and the game all around seemed better.

As long as the download footprint can be kept something reasonable for those players with 56k modems I am all for it.  If not, it really doesn't kill the immersion for me.

since it is much harder for our "vision" to take in the guages... I like ther way AH makes it so that no plane has too much of a "guage view" advantage.

In our game realism should not overshadow function.  Warbirds went down this path - to the extreme you can't read many of the guages at all due to pixels available to render them.

that's true. even if AH's cockpits are not exactly like the real thing, the gauges are readable and that's whay counts most on a computer screen :)
