Anyone know the max payload for the bomber version of the Mossie?

Today I found one source that says it can carry 2 4000lb bombs.

They never gave the mark that could carry that weight. Maybe the question should be "African or European?" or maybe they worked in pairs.

BTW, a second source said it could carry a single 4000 bomb, and another said it could carry as much as a B17.

The Mosquito B.Mk IV could carry 2,000lbs of bombs in the form of four 500lb bombs in the bomb bay.

The Mosquito B.Mk IV Special could carry a single 4,000lb "Cookie" in an enlarged bomb bay.

The Mosquito B.Mk IX could carry 2,000lbs of bombs in the form of four 500lb bombs in the bomb bay.

The Mosquito B.Mk IX Special could carry a single 4,000lb "Cookie" in an enlarged bomb bay.

The Mosquito B.Mk XVI could carry 3,000lbs of bombs in the form of four 500lb bombs in the bomb bay and one 500lb bomb under each wing or 5,000lbs of bombs in the form of one 4,000lb "Cookie" in the bomb bay and one 500lb bomb under each wing.

No Mosquito bomber could carry two 4,000lb bombs.

empty weight of the Mk. VI was 14300 lbs, max loaded takeoff weight was 22300, so if it were a very short mission (low fuel weight), the pilot was anorexic, the weather was low humidity/high barometric preasure & all auxillary eqpt (guns, radios, navigator, etc.) was removed then maybe, w/ a good T/O headwind one could fly a Mossie w/ a 4000 lbs bomb internally and a 2000 pounder on each wing, if the wing could hold them...

No, Mossies did not carry 1000lb bombs. The bomb bay doesn't have the verticle clearance and the Mossie bombers with the enlarged bomb bay could go all the way to 4000lb bombs.

as depicted (inaccuratly, i'm sure) in the movie 633 Squadron, the mossies that carried the cookie did not carry a bombadier, but did their drops fighter/bomber style...according several detailed mossie web sites (esp. http://www.home.gil.com.au/~bfillery/mossie.htm <--- best mossie site i've seen

the Mk.VI did not carry the cookie - mks. IV, IX, XVI & 35 did

other interesting heavy weapons carried by mossies:
57mm cannon (Mk. XVIII)
1050 lbs "uncle tom" rocket
94mm cannon (not in combat)
18" tordonut

never heard of mossies w/ gun other than foward facing, but apparently there were some w/ a variety of defensive guns:
4 gun dorsal turret at rear of cockpit
2 x 0.303" remote rearward machine guns in the nacelles
1 x 0.303" remote rearward machine gun in the tail

Mks. IX XVI 34 & 35 had ~40% extended range with 200 gallon drop tanks

B.35 with Cookie bomb bay. Looks bomb site capable to me although can't remember if this specific one has one.

I know that I was so dissapointed when i tried the mossie the first time in AH. I thougth we were getting a bomber not an attack plane. I started hoping they would give us a bomber version soon but it didnt happen.

I saw 1000lbs listed on a website must have been wrong sorry.

I also saw reference to the spinning high ball or something like that. What is that anyway?

Imp, you heard of the Dam Buster Lancasters, well Highball was a version for Mosquitos and was for attacking ships.(iirc)

There was a rig that would allow for 6 bomb bay 500lb bombs.

I thought it carried 4 500lbs in the bomb bay and 2 under the wings?

So the spinning highball (3000lbs?) was a smaller version of the Wallis (10000-11000lbs if im not mistaken).
