Do you really want more people in CT?
« on: November 19, 2002, 10:34:25 PM »
Wow.
I have never seen so much stick stiring and vulching and  general crap in my life. As much as we argue in here at times, I'd rather fly with or against you guys any day than see that again. I could not believe the level of art some stick stirer's have achieved.
Call it Mini MA all you want Shane, but last showed me there is a big difference.;) I hope MA never breaks again. It's amazing how the whole atmosphere changed in just minutes
all you CT folks.

lol... mini-ma means there's a similar %... there are plenty in MA who *don't* stick-stir... just as there are a few in CT who do fish-flop around.

goes for other *types* as well... i happen to be the channel 1 mouthy-type % in CT, but at least i generally back it up.  eskimo is the rank-potato %...  yanno, so on and so forth.

Ya that was a big influx, the CT had like 60 people in their before the MA went down, then went to almost 100. That and the Pork the Base and win the war set up in thier contributed to this.

It was nice to see the IJ flying higher a lot more often, and in strength. The Ki-61 and A6M5 can be dangerous when flown like that. I spent the whole night looking back over my shoulder, and snapping off bursts while trying to stay fast in my F6F. It was fun.

I for one have always disliked field captures in the CT, Even thogh this was one of the worse MA invasions I have seen, at least when the fields closed they had to reposition the cv to take the fight else where. All planes being alike also made it more of a CT!

I was actually scared that the allies would close "ten" bases tonight but they didnt!!!! I didnt see very many, over three kill sorties by allies either (mostly due to the furballing)

This has been, even with a MA invasion, been the best CT set-upI have seen.

I had two CTDs in two hours in the CT tonight.

I never get CTDs.

Yes by my reckoning the Alies closed 8 bases tonight, and would of closed more, had they stayed focused to that end, instead a lot of furbaling occured. and When I loged off no US Cv had been sunk, one CA went down but no CV, I played till almost 11 pacific.

You have just contradicted everything you said in your Friday night post that spewed all over this same setup.

Maybe next time you will engage the brain before opening your mouth?   ;)

Hawks in good shape.  A lot of the guys flying Japanese in these things get surley. I know I did. I Don't think it's a case of engaging the brain before the mouth. I think it's more fly it a few times, and see how it goes, before you comment. Actually I was suprised by this one myself, I was thinking it was just going to be another week of Slap The Jap. The guys who are flying Japanese are doing better at working together. VF-27, and 880 FAA, are great sticks, and when they get in their signature rides, they are even more effective, and pumped up for the fight. Those of us flying Japanese, just got to keep working together to get better. The important thing is THE HAWK FLY'S AGAIN:)

I love seeing zeros at 25k.  Just means they cant turn when they dive on me at 20k!

This has been quite a success.  I loved the whole ammo bunker strat keeping our cvs alive.

Thanks god I was not around for the ma crash.  I hate it when that happens.  Would have loved to see there comments though.

OK, I'm not looking for flames here, this is an honest, on topic question :)

What are the major differences between the CT and MA.  The Combat theater sounds like something I might be interested in, but I thought I would ask for some opinions.

 Oh, no, did I ask for opinions?

edit was inserting a not right after I'm  :D

The CT is more of a historical plane vs plane match up nothing nore nothing less the CM'S do there best with what planes HTC has supplied us with to make interesting historical setups that run for one week only then change.

If you have already flown in the CT I hoped you enjoyed it if you have not try it you might like it.

MA = 3 sides, each has all planes all the time, while
CT  = 2 sides (Axis v Allies) each has the actual planeset available to its side for the setting represented. (or our best approximation given the planeset limitations).

CT focuses on specific times and places (Tunisia 1942, Phillippines 1944, Battle of Britain 1940, Germany 1944, etc) using the actual terrain (ne'er a pizza map, ever) and historic plane matchups.  Each setting lasts one week, changed every Friday by a CT staffer.

The CT employs reduced icon settings to make identifying threats more difficult and making bounces possible.  (Enemy plane's icons appear at 3.0 and less, friendly icons at 6.0).

Many fewer pilots in the CT - best time to get on 8-10 CST, where you can find 20-50 players, depending on the popularity of the setting.

Pilots of both sides often tend to be more friendly and helpful than in the MA.   I rarely resort to squelching channel 1.

We would love to have you fly with us in the CT!
