I can't use the search button to kick old threads on this plane up.

So I start a new one to say I would very much appreciate if this plane ever sees AH light.

I've been flying it in Il-2 and I have to say that is one of the funniest planes I've ever tried.

Plus it has some ground attack power.

Pls. bring Polykarpov I-16 to AH.

 Would be a nice addition yes with Brewster(Finnish one). These 2 fought fiercely over Finland and Finnish Gulf. What I16 lacks in IL-2 is the quirky longitudinal stability and stiff trigger causing wobbling on firing because of very sensitive controls. Also prone to a violent stall+spin...Bring it on with BW!

Il-16 not only turns better, but it's also very unforgiving when treated bad. Stalls and spins like mad, usually to 0ft. You can outturn pretty much anything, but also have to work on it.

Yeah, I'd very much like to see both in AH! :)

Yep XJazz, I would expect B-239 to turn pretty much like A6M2 does in AH.

Which current AH fighter is closest to the B-239 Brwster if we look just general flight performance?
- climbing: ?
- level speed: ?
- roll rate: ?
- high speed handling
- turning: A6M2 or better

Just from a top of my hat:

-climbing: F4F (somewhere there)

-level speed: Hurricane Mk.I (-25mph from the topspeed)

-rollrate: only reference I know that it is significantly faster than Hawk 75a (so faster than P-40B in AH)

-high speed handling: more or less like FM-2

I might be wrong, but I thought the I-15 and I-16 were the last fighters designed to be directionally unstable, that is until computer assisted flight controls emerged in the 1970s.

I-16 would be nice, but you cant forget I-153!

Infact the I-153 was produced at a higher rate than the I-16 during WW2.
I-153 had a top speed of about 270-280mph, armed with 4 7.7mm mg's, 8 rockets, and 2 bombs, I think they were around 200-300 lbs each cant remember.
mongolia totally replaced their I-16's with the much more agile I-153 biplane.

If we get one we HAVE to get the other! :D

Really!? :eek:

Maybe I buy a book about I-16.

I-16 is funniest WW2 A/C! Really! Its like a gokart fighter which  escape from flying circus:)

I hope HTC will model it and every quirks too.
