Mitsu..

I question the microphone quality used for that recording. The sample file sounds lke an electric egg-beater with a bad bearing.

might I suggest
http://www.brauncomustangs.org/sounds/p51.wav
or
http://www.brauncomustangs.org/sounds/p51_flyby2.wav

The first sound is of a Mustang flying by near full power, but slow airspeed.

The second sound is of a Mustang at full speed during a Reno, NV air race.

Hey Wild, or anyone else that would like to comment,  could that Merlin sound also work for the spitfires?

Pitch is too high Mitsu, sounds like an Allison... Listen to the difference.

Midnight,

I didn't edit this sound from your files.
I find original files over internet and just edited by GoldWave.

Here is new eng.wav for P-51D.
I recommend to try it in Aces High.

VWE001,

I decide to use this new engine sound because I think it's pretty close to these P-51D/SpitfireMk9 Movies:

http://www.jfs.no/film/mustang_display_lars_ness_258kbs.wmv
http://www.jfs.no/film/spitfire_display_mark_hanna_256kbs.wmv

Are they using the Allison engine?

Mitsu, I appreciate the effort you put in your sounds, but I agree with VW, pitch may be a little high.
I loaded yours and flew off line,  and it is a hugh improvement over the stock sound, but it doesnt sound like the ones in the movies you posted.
Midnight's sound a little muffled to me
Whel's and VW's sound about the same and may be the same file, it seems the closest, deep, loud, rattle your teeth.

Just my 2 cents

Weird.  AT the Chino airshow they had an Allison P-40 and something else flying around and it sounded much deeper and smoother to me than the 2 or three Spitfires they had flying around and then the 51's.  Seemed to me the Allison had a deeper sound than the Merlin.
