38cm Cannon with 345kg HE 14 or 15 rounds.
It would be fun for base attacking... :D

Let's not mix up the projectile weight and explosive load :)

Sturmtigers 380cm shell is 345-351kg and contains 125kg of explosives.
It is quite much comparable to german 250kg bomb.
There is also shaped charge round, which can penetrate 2.5 meters of reinforced concrete :)

Very amazing that one even exists still.  Very few were made and if you want any data on it I can dig it up.  Made one for CC3.

Imagine how it feels to thump this thing's frontal armour... they just don't make them like this anymore *g*

You can't really make out form the pic how toweringly big it is, it was taken with a wide angle lens, distorting perspective a bit. I asked I my best German if they could remove the Sherman for a better shot but to no avail (just kidding).

The museum (and it's sister museum in Speyer) are great, they have all sorts of stuff, from WWII relics, locomotives, fire engines, aircraft (also East German stuff), rare automobiles and even a 1960's vintage German submarine, open to the public.

Not according to achtung panzer wich says it fires a rocket propelled projetile. Wich makes it a rocket launcher in my book.
But I think mortars use the same principle so they are essentially rocket launchers.

i think they get a little of both effects in the tank . like a mortar to overcom starting inertia. and alot of extra range and velocety from the projectiles internal fuel. allows for (relativly) tiny launcher compaired to the size and power of the projectile.

glad they didnt have that in 1939.
